March 30, 200917 yr Wireman why is it that so many thinks he cheats. I can't find anything. I just wish if they are going to post things about the man give something to back up their story. I know about the Camby stuff, but I thought that was all about Camby and some agent. I think that everyone goes on the perception that he is a cheater. I used to think the same stuff. After doing a little research, however, I don't think he's a cheater at all. With that perception out there, you can guarantee that the NCAA watchdogs are all over him at Memphis. But, he's been there 9 years with no infractions. He surely would have been caught up in something if he was cheating as bad as everyone assumes.
March 30, 200917 yr Andy Katz on ESPN just said that Calipari met yesterday with Kentucky officials, and was believed to have been offered a "MegaDeal" by the Wildcats!! Calipari apparently is in Memphis today to meet with Memphis (and possibly FedX) officials and "mull over" the offer. He went on to say he believes the mistique of Kentucky will be too much for Cal to pass up??

March 30, 200917 yr The guy is World Wide Wes. Nice GQ Article This guy has blogged excessively about him. If something were to go down with World Wide Wes, it wouldn't just be Calipari to go down. It would be the entire NCAA. He is closely tied to Jim Boeheim and Coach K as well for instance. He has made friends at the top levels of both the NFL and NBA, including Michael Jordan and LeBron James, and is connected in the recruiting game. He was closely involved with the 1986 U of L national championship team, and the Miami Hurricanes dynasty of the 80's. That's during the Jimmy Johnson years, and not the cheater Dennis Erickson years. I don't think WW Wes does anything wrong. Sure he is shady, but the man has been a major playing in sports for over 20 years. If he he had been, he would have been caught by now. I think he is just a man, who has made alot of friends in high places, and then adding their friends to his connections. No doubt that he could cheat for a program, but why would he want to? The only thing that gives him access to gettting to know more top players is that he can get them introduced to high profile players like LeBron. World Wide Wes is shady, but I don't think you can hate someone because they have a lot of celebrity friends.
