Same here. We always went to the old Pike 27 Drive-in. It was really cool -- had a playground down in front of (and below) the screen.

 

The earliest movies I remember seeing there were Bedknobs and Broomsticks and a double feature of The Poseidon Adventure & Towering Inferno.

My daughters Condo is located on land that the Pike 27 used to occupy .

I was just 3 or 4 and my parents loaded up me and sis and we went to go see Zero Mostel in " It Happeened One Night at the Forum" or something like that at the old Park Drive-In on Fleming Road.

I know... I'm 10 minutes away. Have you ever been to the one in Russelville? Rumor was he looked at a few sites over here (one in Bracken Co.) before settling there.

My first drive in movie was Grease. There was also another movie that wasn't that good and that was the first movie you had to sit through. Then the second movie was Grease. Imagine that two movies for the price of one. You will never find that in todays world.

Never been to one as I am not an old geezer but I would like to check the one out in Breathitt County so I can feel like an old geezer for a night.

Mom and Dad took us in the mid-60's, one of the first was the Sound of Music.

 

In the 70's one of my summers jobs for 6 years was cleaning up the mess the morning after, I hated Disney movies and Jaws :isurrender:

 

Used to ride our bikes in and sit on the concrete speaker pedestal and listen to the movies, great times...

I'll bet it was Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. That was part of the double feature when I saw Grease in the theater that summer.

My father and mother used to get the children bathed, pajamas on, station wagon loaded, and go to the G-rated drive-in movies on Saturday night. Of course, we would fall asleep early in the show. I remember the Sound of Music, Bambi, and Jungle Book. WOW!

 

My first drive-in movie on my own, was Blazing Saddles at the Belmont Drive-in Movie Theatre.......many moons ago.

I was a child at the time and went to the Dixie Drive In with my Mom in Ft Wright. Cool Hand Luke - it was so boring we left. (Might be a good movie now, however it was boring to us). Next movie I remember was Godfather 1 - I hated the movie at the time, I love Godfather now.

Star Wars! What an experience. Mom used to take all of us kids a few times a month in the summer. Pack up the station wagon with soda pop and popcorn. (she actually made it on the stove with oil. Then added a ton of butter and salt!!) We used to run all over the place before the movie started and had a blast!

Back in the mid 50's there at the Georgetown Drive-in,that was over 50 years ago, so I don't remember the movie.

I went as a youngster and was a tag-a-long with my parents and saw "The Way We Were".

We still only pay 9 dollars a van load for the drive-in and it is always a double feature. That is why I love them.

Plus, it is just fun to go to the drive-in. :popcorn::banana:
