I took my kids for the first time last year to see Indiana Jones at Bourbon Drive-IN. They LOVED it! We went for my daughters birthday, and she's already asked to do it again this year.

 

I can barely remember the drive-in being on Rt. 11 in Maysville. I don't think it had been operational in some time then, but all the boxes and the screen were still there.

 

As Peter Sellers said in one of the Pink Panther movies,

 

"Not any more".

 

I live half a mile from there.

Smokey and the Bandit. My folks took us to the old drive-inn in Summit. I don't remember the name of the place.

When I was dating my wife in '73 we took in a movie at the Dixie Gardens Drive In . At the time I was driving a '73 Mercury Capri ( German Ford ) BRG , V6 , 4 on the floor, Sun roof ,bucket seats . It was sweet . The problem was the bucket seats , so we took her '68 Chevelle to the movie it had bench seats .

I picked her up at her grandmothers house in Dayton Ky and parked my new Capri there . In the middle of the movie it started to rain but of course we didn't care .

Well during the storm the Drive In management started to page some one but if you have been at a drive in you know how good that the speakers work .

The storm got so bad that they had to cancel the second movie .

We left and drove back to her grandma 's house to pick up my car to go to eat .

When we got there my car was gone . Turns out it was me they were paging . During the storm the Dayton police were chasing a stolen car and the driver lost control spun out hit my parked Capri and totaled it , and the driver got away . Well I got a new Capri but it wasn't as tight as the original car . That was the last time I took my fiancee' to the Drive-in .

I was just 3 or 4 and my parents loaded up me and sis and we went to go see Zero Mostel in " It Happeened One Night at the Forum" or something like that at the old Park Drive-In on Fleming Road.

I remember seeing Blue Hawaii and I was totally in love with Elvis Presley, even though I was only 7 or 8 at the time, I knew I was going to marry him when I grew up - that didn't happen.

I don't remember, but I'm sure I was a baby. :lol: My parents would load us in the car and go to the drive in.

Same here. We always went to the old Pike 27 Drive-in. It was really cool -- had a playground down in front of (and below) the screen.

 

The earliest movies I remember seeing there were Bedknobs and Broomsticks and a double feature of The Poseidon Adventure & Towering Inferno.

The first movie I can remember seeing at a drive-in minus parents was the first Friday the 13th flick. There may have been a few earlier ones but this is the one that sticks out in my mind. I spent many Friday or Saturday nights at the old drive-in in Flemingsburg. I also went to the Park Drive-In in Maysville on Fleming Rd. quite a bit. Good times!

I got my first car when I was 15. I can remember driving to the old Flemingsburg Drive-In illegally when I was 15. I had to go straight there and straight back! LOL . My have times have changed. I wouldn't let one of my kids do that for anything.

1972. There were three movies, but the only one I remember is "Blacula"

Remember in high school around 76 or 77 a friend of mine had his mom's Chrysler Imperial that had a trunk the size of swimming pool and we snuck 4 friends and about 6 or 7 cases of beer in. Those were the days.

The best thing about the Park Drive-In was the screen faced the road and we would park along side the road and watch the movie and you could hear the sound from the road. Especially when they ran movies such as "The Swinging Stewardesses" and "Naughty Nurses."
