Forde makes another mention in his weekly "Forde Minutes" college column. He always ends the article with a recommendation of a college-town restaurant. He made a Sandy Hook suggestion this week...

 

If you're ever in the 700-person town of Sandy Hook, Ky. -- OK, you won't be, but work with me here -- stop in for a cheeseburger and a game of rook at the Frosty Freeze (40). They love their Kentucky Wildcats there -- so much so that among the many Big Blue posters on the wall is one of current Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford in his UK uniform, circa 1994.

 

Why was The Minutes there? Working on a story on Elliott County High School basketball, which has a chance to be a modern-day "Hoosiers" story in the Kentucky state tournament.

I've said for a long time that I like the way your boys play and love the small town thing and think it would be great for your Lions to raise the trophy on Saturday night - but I still had to cheer on my Bulldogs and the rest of the Ninth Region first (which, as a Region, does not even have a single school that has ever won a state championship). Hope you guys understand that people in northern Kentucky are pretty hungry, too.

 

Since EC beat Mason and Ballard and proved to even the most skeptical BGP'ers that they're the real deal, it seems like there are only two issues that remain:

 

1. Can somebody PLEASE steal the exclamation point off of Dale Ferguson's keyboard; and

 

2. Who plays Dale Ferguson in the movie?

This is a great question. I think it will be impossible to find someone to act as Dale. I know of no one even close to like Dale on earth.

Yes I agree. Its a great story. As is Shelby Valley and some others. Its always special when a team from the Mtns acheives success.

 

I certainly agee on Shelby Valley as well. They are small school from EKY and right now are the only Ky. team to beat Elliot. I would love to see them both at Rupp! Should they both be there and meet then I will be pulling for the winner. :thumb:

Great story. Even though I haven't seen Elliott County play and I live in Boyle County, kind of close to Jim McGuire:sssh:, I beamed with pride when I went to espn.com and saw Evan, Jonathon, and Ethan on the front page of the website. Elliott County has been a great story throughout the year as well as the source of many threads being closed:deadhorse:, but I feel that if I were from Elliott County I would be the reason many threads would be closed or I would be emailing the Guru trying to get my suspension lifted. The passion and pride that Elliott County fans have is unmatched by any school in this great state and I love it. I wish nothing but great things for Elliott County for this year and beyond. They are a breath of fresh air and I hope they get the opportunity to play for a State Championship on a Saturday night in March in Rupp Arena. I'll be there and I wish Elliott County luck in the Region tourney so I can witness them play in person at Rupp. Good luck Lions. Thanks for making Kentucky a proud state again.
