February 17, 200917 yr SVM had some nice production off of the bench from Jackson and Franzen as well. True...was in a hurry and forgot to add that. Gotta give the props when they're due!!
February 18, 200917 yr Summit View beat Twenhofel by ten tonight in a jam packed gym at SVM. I really liked how they had a pep band, I've never seen that in middle school before. Summit jumped out to an early 12-2 lead, then Twenhofel stormed back to take a 18-15 lead and it was 18 all at half. Summit started to pull away at the end of the 3rd quarter and it never took their foot off the gas. IMO Summit outcoached Twenhofel. I am pumped for these two teams to come together next year.
February 18, 200917 yr Author Highlands 45 CC Purple 39 Highlands finished their regular season with a tough hard fought win over the Campbell County Purple squad. The Birds jumped out in front like they always do early I believe leading 15 to 6 at one point. The Camels pulled to within 3 at halftime 19-16 on some exceptional shooting by Franzen. Birds came out and played a subpar 3rd qtr actually falling behind by as much as 7 pts. They used a full court man-man press to get get back in the game and take the lead. Karl Hinkel hit a huge 3 pointer as well as Zac Carter off the bench. The Birds nailed 13 of 15 FT's on the game and Colin Dupont buried 6-6 in the final 3 minutes of the game. Birds were led in scoring by Dupont and McCoy with 10 a piece. Franzen led the Camels with 15, he really looked good tonight. The camels are very well coached and they play tough defense. They will be a tough out in the tourney. The Birds finish their season with 20 victories and I believe 12 losses. They finish 13 and 6 in the Conference.

Camels have had too many close losses along with a couple of blowouts when losing focus. The Birds press in the final quarter rattled the cages of the Camel players too much. McCoy dominated the paint, which is very rare for a big man to beat the Camels. Usually CC Purple's big man - Barth dominates and he just wasn't ON tonight. Great offensive game by Franzen, but he fell apart in the 4th inbounding the ball. I was impressed most by the Bird's bench they fought hard the entire game. The Birds seemed lost in the middle of the game. They were giving up back cuts and off ball cuts for layups. Once they started to focus on defense, things changed quickly. Overall, a tough and gritty man 2 man BATTLE!!!!! My kind of up-in-your-grill defense:taz:. Good luck to the Birds in the Tourney.
February 18, 200917 yr HMS 7th over CC Purple by double digits. Highlands finishes season 18-10. I believe the conference record is 15-4. Not sure of conference because I'm still not 100% sure who is in the NKMSBL. Could someone please post the complete list - both east and west.

East - Holmes, Beechwood, Sharp, Newport, St. Pius, CC Purple, Highlands West - Blessed Sacrament, IHM, Summitview, Twenhofel, Turkeyfoot, Woodland, CC Gold I don't think I missed anyone????

First time I've seen that too Coach...had that High School feel going on! As was the story in the first game Barnes hit the big 3 to cut the lead in half, Huesman did it tonight to tie it going to the break. Twenhofel jumped out by 5 to start the 2nd half, but that was about it. Summit went to work after that. Final was 45-34! Great win for the Jags as the starting 5 played with more heart and will than they have in a long time! As stated before...the future looks awful bright for the Pioneers on the hardwood!
