I am pulling for the Sandy Hook boys to win this one.:ylsuper: Being from the mountains, I try and pull for the mountian teams. So glad it will be on TV and I can watch what I think will be a great game.

 Thanks, all support is appreciated!

I will go out on a limb and say EC 96 and Ballard 75. Some say that they like to run , well run you will get at the "Hook".

C'mon, you didn't even beat Mason that bad. Mason is a nice team, but they really don't compare to Ballard. I'm not saying Elliott won't or can't win, but it would be shocking for them to get run off the floor. If you want to get respect on here, show some to other teams. Saying the #4 team in the state is going to get run off the floor by anyone is just disrespectful.

I SAID I was going out on a limb, maybe it is a big limb.:idunno:

Ballard's coach might want to purchase some dramamine and dose the boys somewhere around Winchester.:puke::puke::puke:

Hope the coach gets the "non-drowsy" Dramamine!

They can stop in and Goldie and I will let them wash that down with a good cold Ale8!:ylsuper:

I believe if Elliott was playing a grade school team you would find a way to justify that Elliott would get beat. Its very comical!!:laugh:

I can't believe that I just read this. Both teams at worst are about even. I don't think Elliott would have to play awful for Ballard to beat them or vice-versa. Neither team is that superior, IMO. I think you may really be underestimating the type of speed, athleticism, and defense Ballard will be able to apply. Quite frankly, they(Ballard) aren't Mason, Shelby Valley, or any 16th region opponent and IMO, this will be the 2nd best team Elliott has faced to date. Elliott may win, but I don't believe that either team is that superior as you are implying. Mason County has a fine team, but honestly, I don't think anyone really considered them as a heavy contender for the state crown, and I believe alot of people outside of Sandy Hook actually would have picked the Lions to win that game.

I really don't want this to start another fight, but it is really comments like these that get them started. If a Ballard fan had said the only way Elliott would win this game is if the Bruins are car sick from the ride over then more than a few people would be up in arms. I honestly think alot of the fights on here are started just to get you guys going. I think it will be a good close game, 78-74. I don't know who will win.

Probably the best posts I've seen in an EC thread the whole year. :notworthy::thumb:

This will be a close game but I watched Ballard beat Anderson by 20 during the summer. Anderson gave Elliot all they could handle. But it's just summer ball.

I don't know much about Ballard so I will make a blind prediction.

ELLIOTT 92

BALLARD 84

What will some of the matchup be, what are Ballard significant wins, and what is their style of play?

Have not seen either team in person and can only go by general knowledge of KY h.s. basketball and common sense. Both teams are very good h.s teams this year. Home court is a 6-8 point advantage. EC takes that advantage and pulls out a close one - maybe 3 points with a game in the 70's. IMHO, if EC has a legit shot to win 4 games at Rupp, they must win this game at home.

Obviously I am pulling for Elliott, but I have not seen Ballard play--so I can't make an informed prediction.

I will tell you something that absolutely cracks me up (and it's been mentioned in this thread more than once) though:

Several people have mentioned the poor roads leading into Sandy Hook as a possible contributing factor to this game. The funny thing is, when Elliott County goes on the road to play, the roads are never mentioned as a factor. The Elliott team bus has to travel the same roads out that everybody else travels on the way in. Some may argue that "they are used to it." but that is not a very convincing argument to me. I have traveled these same roads all my life....and the bus ride still makes me sick.

It is going to be a great game between two great teams in a wonderful atmosphere. I am not predicting a winner. I think it will be close in a game that only matters in the sense it will help each team prepare for the post season. I am looking forward to some good high school basketball that should be very entertaining based upon the syle of play employed by both schools.

You bigtime city slickers are missing the real point. By the time Ballard adjusts to the culture shock of being in Sandy Hook, Elliott County will have a 20 point lead and the Bruins will never catch up.

If the state tournament were played at Sandy Hook instead of Lexington, Elliott County would probably win it.

Not making a prediction. If Elliott plays like they did the last 3 quarters against Mason they should be fine and come away with a victory. If they shoot (for the sake of offending someone) or Ballard's lock down defense causes them to shoot like Cedar Hill/Shelby Valley then we will probably see a 5-10 point Ballard win.

I will say this, Ballard (like Bryan Station) is closer to Elliott's style with offense centered around their guards (Cox and Chiles) and not quite as big as the Shelby Valley's, Holmes, Mason's, and Scott County's of the world. I saw Holmes beat Ballard by 5 in the Bryan Station Defender Classic and also against another team in that classic. Jones at 6'4" (I believe) was the biggest and most consistent inside threat, but most of their offense centered around the perimeter and Cox and Chiles. Really don't remember too much about their inside game (only Jones) because of their guard play. Should be a good matchup with the Faulkner's who will be like pesty little bee's and sticking to them like glue from end to end.
