Refs Cracking down?
BasketballFreak91 replied to Mr. FlattyCat's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Referees should watch the game and block out the crowd. IMO a referee should have a member of the crowd escorted out for cussing. I think most referees do a good job but there is one in particular (not going to name this 8th Region official) that makes the game about him instead of the players. Which I may be wrong, just what I see from his games. -

Grant County Head Coach Job

It has the potential to be a good program. People in the community want it to be successful. So I guess you are missing something. There has been good talent that has come out of Grant but there has also been a lot of talent that has been overlooked and not reached its potential. -

Grant County Head Coach Job
BasketballFreak91 replied to marvel's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I don't think it's the elementary level that needs the improvement as much as the middle school. There are plenty of kids playing before they hit the 6th grade. The problem is so many of them are cut at 6th grade tryouts. I think having an A team and a B team and playing the more advanced kids up a grade level would help a lot by the time those kids get to high school. Grant is very bad about not playing up a kid who is in 7th grade and good enough to play 8th grade, etc. But the parents complain when a kid is moved up. Lot of work to be done. :idunno: -

No, he isn't able to get involved at the High School level. The program needs someone with no ties to the program anyway, IMO. -
Grant County Head Coach Job

Someone I think the program overlooks because he is the father of Coach Kinmon is Keith Kinmon. Coached a few years of AAU basketball for the 08-09 Varsity team that went 19-11. Very high basketball IQ, not only knows the x's and o's but is a very good motivator. -

Whoever gets this coaching position will have a very difficult task in their hands. I'm very curious to see who gets the job. Hopefully they can take the young group they will be given and head in the right (winning) direction! -

Haven't heard any of these names mentioned for the Head Coaching position. Names that have been talked about are Jon Jones: Gallatin Steve Simpson: South Oldham Steve Wright: South Laurel Scott Hundley I have had no one mention Billy Hicks...that seems rather ludacris for his name to be mentioned. and..About the comment toward criticizing..well..winning cures that problem. What fans wouldn't complain going from 19-12 to winning just 10 games. Just a tough year for the program and no one enjoys watching a selfish team that does not play together. Best of luck to the Braves tonight at Walton. -
Ron Kinmon gone at Grant County?
BasketballFreak91 replied to CincySportsFan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Sounds like someone is sour. Remember, the superintendent did not fire Coach Kinmon, he left for another position in the school system that required him to give up his whistle. I can already tell by your attitude you do not have the credentials to coach and lead a varsity basketball team. Your lack of respect for Coach Kinmon insults what he has done for the program and insults the players that played for him. To have the audacity to insult a highly respected man over a computer bitterns me and now everything you say I will take with a grain of salt. -

Walton should be tough this year. They return all starters and have a new head coach. Grant County lost 4 seniors including 2 all region players but return starters Isaiah Wartman and Mike Davis. They will be young but I look for them to make some noise toward the end of the year. -
