Elliott Co is play very well.

Coming off a big win vs Mason Co, I like the Lions.

I'm not denegrating Elliott County at all. But aren't you declaring Ballard a weak team based on their point totals?

I didn't take what you said as denegrating. No, I don't think they are weak at all. They are obviously pretty good as well as some of their other region teams. Based on EC playing at home, where they haven't lost since 2006, and where they practice every day, I just think they have an edge. I also believe people underestimate their ability to run, rebound, and play D.

Elliott can play the last minute of the game just as strong and hard as the first minute of the game. Their great stamana is one of their many :thumb:strong points.

I think this will come down to whether the Elliott Count players, and as I understand they really only play about six, will have any legs left in the 4th quarter.

They have not and will not face a team as quick as Ballard all year and Ballard goes full speed all game with ten guys playing.

Should be interesting but, knowing Ballard's philosophy, I don't think the home court advantage will be as great for Elliott as Ballard does not value each possession and have a tendency to get tight, rather they try to get as many shots as possible.

Everyone is making it sound like you have to travel through a dirt road on the side of a winding cliff to get here. Its curvy in spots and I guess if you are weak stomached it might get to you, but besides that its not that bad.:thumb:

Is that road really that bad? Maybe the Lions can treat Ballard to a pre-game meal in Morehead, just before that last leg of the trip. :D:lol:

I believe if Elliott was playing a grade school team you would find a way to justify that Elliott would get beat. Its very comical!!:laugh:

Didn't some of the same EC faithful say this heading in to the game with Shelby Valley when they said 56 points wouldn't be enough to beat EC? What was the outcome again of that? Give Ballard a little more credit. I'd say them only scoring 78 points or more 5 times this year has a lot more to do with the competition they've played, than them simply not being able to put up points. They are a top 5 team for a reason and have knocked off several good top 20 teams including a win over top 5 J'town TWICE.

Thanks sunrise! You should try to come to the game, if it is anything like the Mason game that gym will be rocking!!:dancingpa

I am pulling for the Sandy Hook boys to win this one.:ylsuper: Being from the mountains, I try and pull for the mountian teams. So glad it will be on TV and I can watch what I think will be a great game.

Fair enough. But, you did make a point to say that Ballard can't put enough points on the board to win, and that they hadn't scored 78 or more points more than five times this season. I do feel that looking at that particular piece of information alone does not accurately depict the talent/abilities of Ballard, nor give credit to the opponents they play.

Someone had said Ballard likes to run , start to finish. I would have thought with the teams they played, and their style of play, the point totals from some of those games would have been higher.

But feel free to add to the smiles list in the reply post

deep fried crow , just in case !

If I need too, I'll pull the crow out of my stash. :D

I believe Elliott Co will welcome the running game of Ballard to their home court. The only way Ballard can win this game is for EC to have an off shooting night , and that rarely happens to them at home. Both teams at their best, Ballard cannot put enough points on the board to win.

78 points won't be enough , and Ballard has only reached that mark five times all season.

I can't believe that I just read this. Both teams at worst are about even. I don't think Elliott would have to play awful for Ballard to beat them or vice-versa. Neither team is that superior, IMO. I think you may really be underestimating the type of speed, athleticism, and defense Ballard will be able to apply. Quite frankly, they(Ballard) aren't Mason, Shelby Valley, or any 16th region opponent and IMO, this will be the 2nd best team Elliott has faced to date. Elliott may win, but I don't believe that either team is that superior as you are implying. Mason County has a fine team, but honestly, I don't think anyone really considered them as a heavy contender for the state crown, and I believe alot of people outside of Sandy Hook actually would have picked the Lions to win that game.

I really don't want this to start another fight, but it is really comments like these that get them started. If a Ballard fan had said the only way Elliott would win this game is if the Bruins are car sick from the ride over then more than a few people would be up in arms. I honestly think alot of the fights on here are started just to get you guys going. I think it will be a good close game, 78-74. I don't know who will win.

Rockmom, there are six or seven teams out of the 7th region that on a good night could play with anyone in the state. But I would have to put Elliott Co. in the same category. I don't think you can pick a winner on scores , or who beat who yesterday. That just doesn't always hold up , as we have already witnessed this year. There are to many variables , even after the players take the floor you still don't know. Mine was just a guess , same as most others. But I will be watching the game. One thing for sure , half the teams that played yesterday , got beat !:thumb:

I think Elliott County is one of the top teams in the state, and I think they definitely deserve all their accolades. I just feel teams in the 7th region are often underestimated because they don't put up huge point totals on each other, but that that is a testament to the quality of the teams, rather than a lack of ability to post scores similar to Elliott County against their region.

They may want to plan ahead & hire a new bus driver to take over once they get to Morehead. It will definitely be a trip to remember for the Bruins. I hope the windows roll down or they better bring some brown barf bags.
