Kiffin accuses Meyer of breaking the rules

Featured Replies

I agree.

It's Meyer's job to recruit kids for his program. So what whne he makes a call and the kid is at UT, how is he going to know the kid is at UT?

Oh well Kiffin just cost his team 2 TD's next fall.:isurrender:

Do you really think for a minute that Urban Meyer did not know that this recruit, who had given Florida a verbal commitment, was in Knoxville visiting the University of Tennessee?

Why? If he is telling the truth and it is a violation then why can't he speak up?

I guess it wasn't a violation and that's why most thought Kiffin was being a Putz with this one.

If you want to stir something up, tell how you're going to beat Florida but don't start throwing out accusations when you're unfamiliar with the rules.

Did Kiffin go on to say what happend after the kid answered the phone. I havent heard. I would be mad too if the recruit like keep talking to Meyer as he was getting a tour or something

So then Kiffin was the sneaky one by hosting a recruit who had already given his verbal? What was the problem again w/ making a legal phone call to a kid that was supposed to come play for him?

I guess I'm in the minority. I don't have a problem with a coach calling the kid as long as its during a time that is allowed.

Gentleman's agreement? Right. In the SEC?

Kiffin may not be mature enough to handle what's in store for him. He thought dealing w/ Al Davis in Oakland was annoying, wait until the Vol faithful swallows another #4 finish in the SEC East.

My impression was that Urban Meyer was blowing the kids phone up with phone calls.

I don't have a dog in this fight and I see both Kiffin and Meyer's side.

He did act like a little girl. It was as if he was trying to pump up the audience by saying he out battled Meyer and he cheated. I can't wait to watch him fail at Tennessee

First of all, to put it all in context, Kiffin made this comment in front of an extremely partisan Vol crowd at a breakfast to discuss the signings on NSD. He may have been mistaken about the rules - he may have just been stirring the pot. At the very least, he got the Vols discussed nationally on the day after signing day. In fact his calling out of UM, made more headlines than Alabama's #1 signing and the great recruiting year the Gators had. Is it risky? I would say extremely risky, though I kind of like his swagger so far.

Now that his first recruiting season is over, we'll see if he and his high priced staff can back up his - let's just say arrogant approach to inter-conference relations. Only in the SEC can the recruiting wars stir up such emotion!

At least he got the recruit in question to sign with the Vols, so it can't be all bad!

Lane Kiffin is making Al Davis look good.

He took the kids cell phone and texted the high school coach leading the high school coach to think it was his player returning the texts.

Kiffin also popped off about getting one of Saban's assistants at UT and how he would own Memphis and the Lance Thompson fellow was the big reason Saban got so many kids from there.

Then bam, one of the best recruits from Memphis signs with Bama.

Round One to Saban.

This will be fun to watch unfold. Kiffin may want to understand his role and shut up.

Why should be shut up? If I was him I would do the same thing. I'm a Vols fan I'm glad they hired him.

Who is going to finish ahead of them besides Fla and Ga?

If I was in Lane's shoes I would do the same thing. Why not call out Fla who has won 2 titles in the last 3 years. He might be cocky but that is what Tenn needed. Fla might hand it to them next year but I'm telling you watch out for them in the next few years. If he can have a top 20 recruiting class when he hasn't been there that long what do you think he will do when he is there for a whole season?
