Super Bowl Sunday?...or Saturday?

Featured Replies

On Sunday evenings, very few people are at work. Malls close around 6pm and very few businesses are open.

You will have people not going to the malls or other businesses on a Saturday night if the Super Bowl was on. They would be at a party or at a bar.

I agree... but would business owners allow employees off for the Superbowl? While most would be watching the game, there would be several who would be upset that the stores were closed.

For the record, I would prefer it on Saturdays.

Saturday would be perfect. FF and I were just talking about that. He has to work that Monday morning and doesn't want to go out b/c he knows he will never want to get up the next day lol.

Church the next morning or work the next morning...

I don't have to get up at 4:30 AM to go to church. :D

It's a money thing.

On Saturday, some people would just go out instead of watching the games, but what is there to do Sunday evening?

Saturday or Sunday, it makes no difference. But what I would like to see is especially on the east coast, the game starts no later than 2:30 pm over and done with by 7 including post game and the pre-game show is only 2 and half hours long by starting at 12 noon.

Lance was discussing this on 1530 this afternoon.

I kind of like the idea of having it on Saturday, but I could see why they wouldn't change it.

I would prefer Saturday. Having friends over and having a good time, then all the sudden after it is over you start to wonder, when will they leave ? :idunno:

It's a money thing.

Laundry, ironing, church, planning meals for the following week, grocery shopping, getting kids organized for school the next day, checking in on elderly relatives, making sure all the cars have gas, and remembering that we have to get up early for work the next day.:ohbrother:

You must be young and have no job or children.:sssh:

Yes, it is a money thing. Many more people would go out on a Saturday night, spend more money and stay out later.

I don't see it ever changing but it would be much better. I agree with the when are they going to leave statement. I enjoy having friends over but with clean up after the game it is like Okay its over get out...NOW!

For the Super Bowl the fans will watch no matter what day it is on. The opportunity for viewers won't change.

The FANS will watch no matter what day it is on but the viewers WILL change because you will lose the casual fan. Saturday night is horrible for TV ratings--fewer viewers, less money for commercials, etc. There's no way the TV stations or the NFL are going to let the any of that money get away. It's a nice idea that's been going around the last few years, for the fans, but it's not happening.

Church the next morning or work the next morning...

Church starts at 9:30

For work I head out at 4:15

I vote Saturday
