I havn't had any trouble at all Took my wife to work both days and picked her up . Took my son to work both days and picked him up . Paid some bills at Lowes and Radio Shack . And no I dont' have 4 wheel drive , just a front wheel drive Santa Fe . with an automatic stick shift .

Things like this weather event, show just how un prepared we are as a state to accomodate any sort of true disaster. it is rather dis-heartening to say the least.

Well, about 15 minutes after I posted this, we lost power. We had no power all night long and still none today. We had to evacuate to Morehead to stay with family because the city of Danville is also out of water. You could hear trees falling and breaking to the tune of 5 or more a minute all through the night last night. I don't know that there's any trees in Danville that are undamaged. Anyways, we are safe and sound in Morehead and waiting to get an update on Danville before we return.

 

I got to see about 5 minutes of the UK game and listened to part of it on the car radio. I see I didn't miss much :lol:

Water is back on in Danville but the city has asked all Industry to shut down until Friday in order to fill the water tanks.

 

Inter County Energy had almost all customers off-line with only 2 of 39 circuits still on and they only had 8 customers each. So, only 16 of the 27,000+ customers of Inter County Energy had power.

 

They have called in help from South Kentucky and from Georgia. This is going to be a major rebuild for both Inter County and Kentucky Utilities.

Be sure to thank your locally elected officials. We actually had someone stop by our house as I was digging out and he assured me that the snow plows were on the way. That was in Independence. I thought they did a really good job in that area.

Well I'm glad your city leaders care because it doesn't appear mine do. Well I take that back. They do care but they care about the money involved. I have seen several snow plows but none of them come close to putting their plows on or even close to the ground. They leave them quite a bit high so they don't get dinged up and have to be replaced anytime in the next 15 years.

I have to brag on our road crews (Trimble Co). The main roads are totally clean and many of the side roads are in fair condition. I had to travel north, to Madison, IN, and their main roads are atrocious.

I heard they are getting bad out there right now. I left at 2:45pm to go get my son and I thought they were getting pretty bad. The snow is nonstop and thick. Stay safe out there.

The roads are covered in Mason County. Good call by the school system to dismiss at 1:00.

It should be an interesting ride home. :irked:
