January 28, 200917 yr Nice thick layer of ice on top of the snow. Strong enough to hold me up for a bit. I believe that there will be more snow tomorrow and I guess I am driving the usual hour drive to work tomorrow

January 28, 200917 yr My dh left at 5am this morning and got home about 6:30 this evening. He said the trip home was MUCH WORSE than his trip into work this morning. He said that they slid twice on I64 between Ashland and Grayson. The second time, they almost went over the hill!!:scared:

January 28, 200917 yr I worked from Lexington to Louisa today (got a voicemail late that I didn't have to get out in the conditions) and saw 7 different wrecks in the 2:45 I was on the road. When the interstate is that awful you know the back roads are worse!

January 28, 200917 yr I've been out and about up here in N. Ky. for the last hour and a half. Nice coat of ice covering everything, but it wasn't to hard to scrape off the sidewalk with a staight, flat shovel. Came up pretty easy. It's straight rain coming down now. Which means any salt or de icer on the road should work pretty well. I think the roads will be slushy and messy, but not real slick. Good luck to all and safe travels.
January 28, 200917 yr Heading out to Cincinnati in a few minutes. I am more worried about getting home tonight than I am getting there now. Last time I worked in weather like this, the hospital had a MANDATORY "stay" for all employees. No one was permitted to leave because few could get in work to relieve them. In realilty, the roads were so bad, traffic wasnt moving anyway, so it wasnt a terrible thing making money while waiting for traffic to ease up. Still, I would MUCH rather get stuck at home than stuck at work.
January 28, 200917 yr Made it to my office in downtown Cinti with no problems. Took the back roads to avoid any possible "meeting" with a semi on 471 (those things are like big sleds when there is just a little snow on the ground, except you can't steer them as well as a sled). Roads are just slushy. Nonetheless, be safe and careful.
January 28, 200917 yr No power at my abode this morning. Walking up the street was treacherous. Trees down, one blocking the street, another on a car. Powerlines down. Things crashing all around. Once I got to Bardstown Road, the road was great, there was light....until the transformer near where I was standing blew. Do I get hazard pay?
