When I left for work this morning @ 5:30-ish, the my street was awful, Bardstown Road was "OK" and Broadway was relatively good. I left work tonight @ 6:30-ish, and I just got home. Broadway is pretty good, as is Bardstown Road. My street, on the other hand, is treacherous. Thankfully I was walking, because it's a solid sheet of ice where the tire tracks are, and only the middle can be walked. The sidewalks are solid ice where people have been walking. I got nailed in the back by a falling chunk-o-ice, so I'm glad to be inside!

I've walked both dogs this evening, and the only way I could get down my driveway was with those "grippers" with the little metal studs that go on your shoes. Everything is covered in a sheet of ice, and it ain't getting any better.

Be careful tomorrow Rockmom. There is suppose to be more ice/sleet south in central KY than NKY. I hope you can reach your son and his fiancee and all is well. We did ask our son to stay home if it is icy, even if they don't cancel classes at NKU.

 

TRock had to work tonight. He just sent me a text. I guess they're not going to close the mall early. So, he's got 2 or more hours left. We're supposed to get 2-5 more inches tonight, I hear, but not till after 10. Until them, it's raining ice.

Just went to check on my car and see if the street was plowed. No such luck but it has about 2 inches of ice on it(Road) and they are saying a few inches of snow on top of that. It's gonna get nasty.

My dog wants to go for a walk, but I can't get down the steps with him. He went outside to go to the bathroom, and kept falling through the ice, up to his belly in the snow. He never got "it" done. I'm not sure what we're going to do.

I just got in. They really weren't that bad if you go slow. I stayed in 3rd gear the whole way home.

This reminds me of the ice storm that hit Eastern Ky about 6 years ago. My grandparents lived in rural carter county and were without power for more than a month. If Big Spikes' power goes out and he still has school tomorrow, he is going to stay at a hotel, a motel or maybe even a Holiday Inn ha.

Not too bad here in Owsley County. It's been raining fairly hard for the past few hours, but the roads are okay. There is some ice on the trees and power lines though.

I went into work today but a few hours late. This time back I couldn't even make it up my road let alone my driveway. I would be willing to bet my car is stuck in the morning.

 

I couldn't make it up my hill, so I just turned right around and went back to bed.

Over a quarter inch of ice here in Louisville. My subdivision roads haved packed snow with ice over top - very slick. My neighbor's tree is down, and outside it sounds very eery... there's no vehicle traffic noise, and all you hear is tree limbs cracking and creaking... kind of spooky.

Not since about this time last night. Mom was out a couple hours ago, said they just slid down our drive way, on their feet of course, that you just kinda glide on the concrete.

Came home from work around 7. There was no road, just snow and ice.

Just went out and surveyed some of the damage in Richmond, every other tree is down or about to fall, power outages still abundant.....several trees have fallen on cars in the EKU Lancaster lot as well....gonna be a mess in the morning

You really hit it dead on the head. I am in far eastern Jefferson County, we get some last love when it comes to plowing. I spent forever getting everything cleared so that I could visit some customers today, when I got home tonight, I had to re-shovel my drive to get back into the garage. They really want us out working, as our competition surely isn't. BUT, it will be a tough road to hoe. I have woods in my backyard and limbs are dropping like crazy. Thank God that our power is buried.
