Why not? The score would've been the same if they played the whole first half. Should the starters be punished for being good and be forced to play only one quarter?

Here's a little coincidence: Elliott County scored 132 points in an early season matchup with Greenup County last season.

132 is still a bit much. You can't tell me Elliot's JV is that much better than Boyd's VARSITY if indeed EC only played their starters 1st and 3rd quarters. What was the halftime score? I'm sure EC was up by atleast 30 so why would the starters even play AT ALL the second half?

 

Elliott has some good looking young players. They will still be a good team in the future after this season. It was 49-17 after the first. The starters sat out and it was 74-36 at the half. That means in the 2nd, it was 25-19, Elliott with the starters watching.

So the starters dont deserve to play more than one quarter? I think sitting them the fourth is a great gesture by Coach Mays. These players practice daily and deserve the chance to shine for at least two quarters on game nights.

 

I agree. I would personally play them 3 quarters and let the j.v. have the 4th if it were me.

The team had 49 in the first quarter, so that's not all the unreasonable.
