On a similar note, my daughter's friend wants her to do something with his family over Christmas break. HE has to contact me and ask. He won't do it because he feels I don't like him and he is scared of me.

 

His feelings of me not liking him stems from his story of "him telling my daughter he got drunk, she broke up with him and then him saying he was lying to her about getting drunk and he really didn't." I have just been asking for an explanation on why he felt the need to lie and pretend he DID get drunk.

 

Probably belongs in another thread, but I have a question. Why does he have to ask you if your daughter can do something with his family over Christmas break? Why can't she ask your permission herself if she is wanting to go?

Good question. Also guys aren't going to ask permission to marry his daughter if they need permission to hang out w/ his daughter.

Don't do it....but if you do, do it in person.

She sent a message that this was not a type of person she wanted to be associated with.

I showed this to my wife and she said..."you told him go in person, when you didn't ask my dad?" "yeah, you told me your dad hated Bama/SEC!" I replied.

I have a friend who reads this site from time to time...he texts me late last night and goes..."I knew when I opened up that thread about the guy asking permission that you would post something" lol.

Since gas is cheaper now , Sat. is going to be nice, Sunday looks like a mess. Go as and get to know him better, a little better. It will be OK.

The more I think about it the more there is NO DOUBT in my mind you should do it in person if you can. It just really gets things off to a good start IMO and your wife + what could end up being like your future 2nd dad won't forget!

14l Which is the reason for my concern that for some reason he felt the need to pass himself off as drunk and that would make him somehow cooler. OR he really did get drunk and now he is trying to lie about it.

I swear...if Kevin James has anyone closer in this world to a clone of himself than you, I'll be shocked. :lol:

I think it's a great idea. I did it when I got engaged. My father in law was very appreciative, his only request was that I waited until she became a Freshman in high school. :lol::lol:
