When you are located on the Mountians of Eastern KY Bowling Green is Western Kentucky mostly because Western Kentucky University is there.......Wonder why they did not name WKU, Southern Kentucky University??

 

It's already a directional school. If it had been called totally correctly, it would have been a hyphenated directional school: South-Central Ky. U.

Some of the easiest parking I have ever experienced was at Papa Johns and you walk 40 yrds right to the ticket booth and entry.

 

BG seems pretty far and with not having a son playing I may resort to catching next yrs finals on the web/radio.

 

I am glad the parking went well for you because it has been a pain for me every year I have gone to Papa John's. The worst thing is they had no one directing traffic and they had one guy taking money for parking. What a mess!!! If I had not arrived 45 mintues before kickoff, I may have missed it.

People Bowling Green will be fine well at least for me no need for a hotel Owensboro is 70 miles away. But I have seen all the improvements made to the stadium there and it is top of the line. You will not be disappointed. For those of you that stay and go on Saturday Nashville is like 56 miles south of BG. Maybe the Titans will be playing at home that weekend next year and you can just make a full weekend of it.

 

Never being at papa john's for a high school game I really have no biased toward one or the other I have been to the pizza box to see the Cards play and yes loved it! It would not matter if the state finals were played in corn field in the middle of nowhere it would still be the state finals and what the boys are playing for is the most important. Congrats to all the repeat winners this year and also all the runners up when you make it that far really there are no losers all 12 teams had a successful season.

The parking at Papa Johns was good but getting into it was terrible.

It appears there are about 2400 rooms in BG. Does anyone know if there are motels within walking distace of the stadium. We started staying at Hilton Garden and Country Suites in Louisville so we could walk and I really liked that set-up.

Papa John's was better in terms of a big-time stadium, but WKU is a better fan venue. It will be MUCH louder due to the design of the stadium and I think the teams will feel more like they are in a game with a really big crowd as opposed to what yu got at PJ's, where the stadium simply dwarfed all but a St. X/T crowd.

I think it is a good change, but for the kids it will be different. Papa Johns is like Rupp in HSBB, thats all you dream of. Now you have to change your dream to BG, but oh well. I think it will be much more accomodating.

:thumb: Nashville is one of the most fun cities I have ever been to! Then again, I always go during the Music City bowl.

I'm looking forward to the change. For one, I think it will be a better atmosphere for the kids and the fans watching. At Papa Johns, you could have a decent crowd (5-10,000) and at times it's as if nobody is there. With the move to WKU, I think the games will be more 'electric' I guess you could say. The stadium is right on top of the field and still plenty big enough to host a big time game of a St. X and Trinity. Isn't the capacity around 25,000 now?

 

Plus, for those of you that haven't been, Bowling Green is one heck of a town. I don't think anybody will be dissapointed.

It's my understanding that 6A is supposed to go back to determining brackets strictly by geography from now on ... if so, Trinity and St. Xavier could meet in the finals every year.

How exciting will that be for alkl of th other teams in the same Class?

Playing for third can't be any fun.

If the KHSAA wanted to make money, they would kick Trinity and St. Xavier into a separate class and add a title game.

 

Take those two out of the mix, and we likely would have seen a Male-Ballard or Male-Eastern final. What kind of crowd would that have drawn?

One, of several, good changes will be the entire city of Bowling Green and WKU will be all about the finals. Louisville doesn't put a lot of effort into hosting the games.

 

Bowling Green has several hotels/motels, shopping, ANY restaurant that you want.

 

A couple years ago they hosted the Little League Baseball State Tournament you would have thought that they were hosting the Major League World Series.

Trinity and St. X are currently in opposite brackets. However, the KHSAA has put them on notice that this is subject to change while they mull over dropping 1/2 of the playoff teams and taking Bowling Green into account. I believe they need to review how a region 1 school can make the finals in 6A.
