This game was nowhere close to the score! Beechwood threw a pick inside the 20 and also fumbled on the 1 yard line on a play that would have made it 21-0 that's when Hazard drove to the 8 where the stumbled and came away empty handed.

 

It was a close game...

 

Hazard was one big play away from evening the score and they had the ball with 2 minutes to go to try and do just that...

 

Beechwood was certainly the superior team, but the mistakes they made today let Hazard make a game of this.

 

I don't know what you classify as being a close game...but, I can tell you that a 14-7 game is not a blowout.

 

Unless they started awarding wins based on yardage and time of possession unbeknownst to me. :lol:

Hazard held our guys, especially Shusher all day long, but not calls were made. However, we pulled out the win, and we were all thrilled!

 

I heard that the radio was unkind to Neico. That young man played injured the entire game and yet played his heart out. He was a true hero!

No, just stating the facts. If you knew me, you would know that I am all about fair play and the facts. I could say more about that game, but might get in trouble with the mods.

And we're doubly glad we won, because if it would have gone the other way and we wanted to vent about the refereeing it would look like sour grapes.

 

It wasn't just the calls that were made-it was the seemingly tons of calls that WEREN'T made. Like HOLDING, Holding, and MORE holding; block in the back; FINGERS IN EYES; fumbles; bad spots.....ughhhhh. It's just so frustrating. All those boys from both teams worked so hard to get to that game. They deserved to be able to play the game fairly and cleanly.

I agree with you. It was very very bad. I heard the refs should have thrown out #60 from Hazard for the 2 personal fouls but they didn't.

 

Two personal fouls will result in an ejection. The white hat called the 2nd foul an unsportsmanlike conduct; therefore, #60 had one personal foul and one unsportsmanship conduct foul.

 

It was a farce, he was out of control and should have been gone! #60 probably could add about 10 holds to his resume too.....he was getting beat all day long by #56 in red and he was very very frustrated! Anytime a offensive lineman wraps their hands around a defender....its a hold, its a hold, its a hold!

I agree with you. I don't know how he could have called it unsportsmanlike conduct when it was right in his face.

That is the whole point. They said he was down when he hit the ground so it should have been a dead ball. I don't know how you can say he was down blow the whistle and then give the ball to Hazard. His head hit the ground before the ball came out.

As to this play, I think if you look at the tape you will see that there wasn't 99 yards of open field. The Hazard player who picked up the ball was in the grasp of a Beechwood player at the 5 yard line while the whistles were blowing.

 

I'm very much looking forward to seeing the replay of this game. I would agree with the posts complaining about the officiating. But emotions can get in the way of our judgment sometimes. I was surprised to see the penalty totals in the game were so even. I will reserve final judgment on the officials till I see the game on tape and I recommend that for everyone.

 

As to the earlier post by someone saying the internet announcers were making negative comments about Teipel, I didn't hear them. But anyone who had anything but the highest praise for Teipel's effort today should be embarrassed. Teipel played the second half of the season with an injury most would have sat out with. Today he came back more than once when it looked like he should be on the sideline. His effort was the kind every true football fan totally admires and for me one of the key memories of #11.

Great game by Hazard! Kept it closer then many would've thought... Guess Beechwood isn't heads and toes above everyone in the 1A like I thought they were. I think I predicted this one a blowout in Beechwood's favor.
