Good job Hazard and Congrats to Beechwood.

It was close, because Beechwood kept turning the ball over. Hazard could have very well won this game.

 

Beechwood scored on the last play of the first half to go up 14-0.

 

Hazard had first and goal late in the third/early in the fourth and couldn't come away with points.

 

If those two scenarios play out differently, Hazard could have very well won this game 14-7.

 

What about all of the big turnovers Beechwood had in the red zone?

 

Beechwood throws the int in the end zone when they were about to have a 96 yard drive.

 

They fumbled at the one yard line when I think Nico was down. I was right near the end zone when that happened.

 

Beechwood would have been up 28-0 if those plays doesn't happen.

 

I knew the only way Hazard would play them tough if Beechwood turned the ball over. 4 turnovers will stop anyone. I knew Beechwood's defense would shut them down. I do give Hazard credit they played with a lot of heart.

What is the rule of personal fouls? I heard today after the game if one player got 2 personal fouls he would be ejected. If that is true how come #60 from Hazard didn't get ejected?

Good effort by Hazard (the obvious underdog) against the titan Beechwood.

 

In all fairness to the announcers, they were probably pleased to have a REAL game to call.

 

I think the predicitions will bear that MOST people did not expect such a good game

 

This is belated, but my computer at work doesn't have a sound card, so by the way good job to all of you keeping the thread updated. That said, one of the announcers, Gary Ball, worked in NKY announcing games from mid 80s into the 90s and he always touted NKY, so it would surprise me to hear that he was showing any bias against NKY.

The worst officiating I have seen at any level of football. The officiating was an embarrassment for football in the state of Kentucky. I am truly disappointed that the KHSAA would allow such a high level game to be officiated in such a way…

Gary Ball is actually from Lexington. I think it is funny how he always touted the Nky teams when he was here but now he is showing a lot of bias towards him. I heard he called Beechwood Beechmont last year during the LCA game.

I agree with you. It was very very bad. I heard the refs should have thrown out #60 from Hazard for the 2 personal fouls but they didn't.

Congratulations Hazard on a great season and a great game. I'm sorry you didn't win the game, but you did win the respect and admiration of many KY fans, especially those of us from the east.

 

Good luck next season and the best to any graduating seniors. You made us all proud!

Congrats to Coach Rash, quality person and excellent coach. I am glad in his short head coaching tenure so far he is getting his due.

I didn't want to put my thoughts on the game in my previous post, but....

That was THE worst officiated game I have ever witnessed, and also contained some of the most UNSPORTSMANLIKE behavior I've ever seen. 'Nuff said.

That was the whole point of my post. Beechwood's turnovers kept Hazard in the game and actually gave them an opportunity to win the game...they just couldn't get it done. Beechwood's defense deserves a ton of credit for that.

 

I think most people knew Hazard would need some Beechwood mistakes to have a chance...and, that's exactly what happened. Hazard got everything they wanted and needed from that perspective and still lost. If Beechwood doesn't cough it up so much, they probably win by 4 TD's at least.

 

As it was, they did, and this game could have easily gone the other way because of it. Beechwood has one play from the 3 to end the half and they convert a TD pass...its football, anything can happen on those plays. If they don't get that for whatever reason...and Hazard punches it in with 4 plays from the 8 yard line, the game could have gone Hazard's way.

 

I'm not arguing that Hazard was the better team. All I'm saying is the way Beechwood played today, they left the door wide open for Hazard to steal that game.
