Bengals Ticket Taker charged with Misdemeanor Theft

Featured Replies

Did they take a mental inquest warrant out on the guy offering to PAY $20 to see the Bengals?

Maybe the scalpers had him arrested. They can't give their tickets away and he was getting 20 dollars.

Nope, not the same guy I know who does this. Wonder if this makes the guy I know who does it stop.

I'm not exactly sure why this is "news". How many people get arrested every day for misdemeanor theft, yet we don't see them on the news?

I agree completely.

A lot of them do it and it will not stop. This guy was either setup or he messed up. If he only lets people he knows in he's fine unless they caught him from the inside. That's how the guys got caught a couple of years ago. They slowed down then but never stopped.

How many professional organazations have turn style entrances compared to the newer ones that scan the tickets? If the Bengals want this stopped they would get the scanners. It is still my belief that the Brown family knows it happens and likes it especially for huge games where all of the seats are full. When we used to get into games like this our group of 60 or so that went spent an average of $80-100 each. So old Mikey was getting an extra 1000 or more people spending cash that didn't have tickets.

I think we all know why it's news on here. :thumb:

I think I know as well. Not surprising.

I agree. If you would steal 50 cents, then you would steal a large sum of money as well.

I see where you're coming from, but that logic is horribly flawed.

It's fairly simple. The news station could either talk about the game itself, or they could talk about an incident that happened at the game. Which would you prefer to listen to? ;)

And I think it is relatively newsworthy since Mr. Ziegler is on the school board...

$20 is way too much to get into a Bengals game. The guy should've knew something was up.

I agree, especially when they were selling tickets outside the game for 5 or 10 bucks. The biggest crime this guy committed is that he is a idiot, why in the world would someone walk right past people selling tickets for less than 20 bucks?

I'm interested to see how this plays out.

I'm not entirely apprised of the facts (or the law), but it seems to me like there could be an argument for entrapment here.

They should be letting people in to see the Bengals for free. From what I hear, most paying customers arent showing up.

Nice one Beechwood! :lol::lol:

505.010 Entrapment.

(1) A person is not guilty of an offense arising out of proscribed conduct when:

(a) He was induced or encouraged to engage in that conduct by a public servant or by a person acting in cooperation with a public servant seeking to obtain evidence against him for the purpose of criminal prosecution; and

(b) At the time of the inducement or encouragement, he was not otherwise disposed to engage in such conduct.

(2) The relief afforded by subsection (1) is unavailable when:

(a) The public servant or the person acting in cooperation with a public servant merely affords the defendant an opportunity to commit an offense; or

(b) The offense charged has physical injury or the threat of physical injury as one (1) of its elements and the prosecution is based on conduct causing or threatening such injury to a person other than the person perpetrating the entrapment.

(3) The relief provided a defendant by subsection (1) is a defense.

----------

Word play is very important here. A public servant can't say "If I give you $20, will you let me in?" But he can say, "Is there anyway I can get into the game without a ticket?"

You are correct. I would be curious to know how the situation was handled by the officer. My first thought was entrapment, like someone said above, but I suppose it could have happened like you stated above. Either way, I think the reason this was reported is because it says the guys is a school board member.
