December 1, 200817 yr Just saw on the news where one of the ticket takers was in court today for a misdemeanor theft charge for letting a fan in for $20. Apparently, an undercover officer offered him $20 to let him in and as soon as he took the money was arrested. Seriously, how ignorant can you be?
December 1, 200817 yr Isn't it illegal for an officer to set up someone for a fall like that? That doesn't seem like an ethical thing for a person of the law to do. It's very ignorant to take that offer by the ticket taker, but it doesn't seem ethical to set someone up to fail like that.

I don't think it was a random act of just trying to screw someone over. He was probably known for letting people in for some extra pocket change and that's when they sent in the police.
December 1, 200817 yr They should be letting people in to see the Bengals for free. From what I hear, most paying customers arent showing up.

It's no different than an undercover cop trying to stop other illegal acts that we see on the streets.
December 2, 200817 yr What did they charge him with? "Theft of service", he payed to see two NFL teams play football and was only given one NFL team and the opponents of the Harlem Globetrotters.
December 2, 200817 yr Oops, I posted this in a thread in the pro sports forum. Seriously, how ignorant can someone be?
December 2, 200817 yr Author What did they charge him with? "Theft of service", he payed to see two NFL teams play football and was only given one NFL team and the opponents of the Harlem Globetrotters. I think it was a "theft by unlawful taking" charge.
December 2, 200817 yr He should have no trouble proving his admittance wasn't worth $20 and should get a slap on the wrist.
December 2, 200817 yr It's no different than an undercover cop trying to stop other illegal acts that we see on the streets. Right, but if an undercover officer is trying to bust a drug dealer, he can't go up to him and say "Hey, I need some shrooms." The dealer has to OFFER the drugs to the officer.
December 2, 200817 yr They should be letting people in to see the Bengals for free. From what I hear, most paying customers arent showing up. Exactly. When I saw the thread title I thought it was going to be a joke about the ticket booth selling tickets at face value.

That stuff goes on all the time and many ticket takers have let people in for a little pocket money. Nothing earth shattering here and I'm totally surprised it hit the news. Channel 9 must be hard up for stories, as I think they are the only ones that reported it.
December 2, 200817 yr Look at you, talking the talk but learning to walk to the walk. Baby steps for now.
December 2, 200817 yr Well, it is pretty weak for the Bengals to charge him in the first place. They should have just sent him on his way. I agree, this has been going on forever, at every stadium in the country. Wrong, yes, but why make a huge issue out of it? The Bengals have enough bad press as it is. Channel nine, shame on you too. You should have better things to do than to report this kind of thing.
