Nice size as well. He looked to be around 6'2 215lbs.

Mason Rister, QB, Greenup County High School. He is just 5'11", but very physical and has a gifted right arm. He was tauted as the second best QB in the area, however, was limited by a 3 year starter and all area QB, Eric Craft.

Lamar Dawson, Boyle County, LB,TE, and most recently FB/TB. His best position is LB and I know he didn't lead the team in tackles, but he had to be a close second. 6'2", @ 220 lbs and while he isn't the MLB on our team he is an anchor on the defense. Jordan Yeast, Mercer County TB, told Danville Advocate Messenger that Lamar is the best LB he has ever faced. He will be a force over the next two years and I suspect that Bell County will be introduced to Lamar this Friday.

Chris Kelly & Jake Cain - NCC

Rowan County's Darrell Cross and Aaron Young. Cross plays HB/DB(5'9 185). Young DL(6'0 220).

If you're talking about players who are sophomores this past season there are several good sophomore qb's that will impact their teams next year including the ones at Mason County, Rowan County, Lawrence County, Boyd County, and Greenup County.

I'd put Raceland's QB in there too. Tyler Farley. I watched him in the Fairview/Raceland game the kid throws a good ball. Also watched him in some JV game's the boy took control.

#42 is Tanner Bratton and he is a soph and awesome. He is a great line backer too. The kid has a D1 body and speed.

 

#5 for JC JK Hall is a soph too and a great athelete. He started a corner back but playes running back and QB. He should be JC's starting QB next year.

Chris Kelly NCC, very good player with determination and a motor that never stops if you haven't seen him play try to catch a game next year he is something to watch.

South Oldham - Trafton Holder, DL played on a three man front and still managed to get in the backfield consistently despite playing against a pretty good schedule that included Oldham County, Anderson County, North Bullitt, and Eastern.

 

South Oldham - Jay Gatto, LB probably one of the most undersized LBs in the state, but very quick, a very hard hitter, and very intelligent - anticipates plays very well.

 

Shelby County - Branden Cresap, QB In just three games (season-ending knee injury in third game), Cresap threw for 826 yards and 8 scores and ran for another 125 yards. He completed 56% of his passes... On pace for well over 3,000 yards and 30+ TDs when injured...

 

Shelby County - Matt Axline, OL Shelby's running game took off behind this guy. Potential future all-stater.

 

Shelby County - Matt Page, WR Shelby's premier WR was forced to play QB after the injury to Cresap, but Page should return to WR next year, where he excels. Still managed 24 catches for 315 yards / 5 TDs before moving to QB.

 

Oldham County - Tyler Oldham, RB/LB Although he only got the 5th-most carries on the team (36), had 263 yards (7.31 yards / carry) and 5 TDs. Solid LB.

 

Oldham County - Dylan Sims, LB Played next to Ichiro Chiba and still managed to distinguish himself as a hard-hitting LB; one of Oldham's top tacklers. With Tyler Oldham, Sims will form a solid 1-2 punch for Oldham at LB next year.

 

North Oldham - Austin Peterson, S Started at safety for North Oldham and was superb in pass coverage. Three interceptions on the year. One of the possible heir apparents at QB next year for North...forced into action in the second round of the playoffs vs. Etown when the first two FBs went out with injuries...in four carries vs. the Panthers, rushed for 45 yards (including two runs of 19 yards).

 

Henry County - Luke Magness, QB As a sophomore, Magness completed over 50% of his passes for 1,744 yards (23 TDs / 5 INT). He rushed for 418 yards and 9 more TDs as he led the Wildcats to a 6-5 record.

Alex Abner- RB/ S Pulaski County(pick your poison) Very dangerous anytime he touched the ball, whether on offense, defense, or special teams. Had TDs rushing, receiving, kickoff, & Int returns. Can lay a hit on defense too. Outstanding all around player.

Derek Jackson- RB Somerset (Fast & Strong) Can run around, over, or through you... doesn't matter to him. May be the best of some good young players @ SHS.

Zack Fowler-LB Southwestern (Defensive Beast) Could be one the all-time greats at SW by the time it's all said & done. That's saying a lot considering the talent that has come out of that school.
