WKU 68 Louisville 54

Featured Replies

If the PG's were the only ones who played poorly on offense today, you might have a point.

The team played poorly, I understand that. But you got zero points from your point guards. Nor did they get other players baskets with assists. Like I said, UL is going to be a great team. Samuels, Williams, Knowles, Clark, etc are very good. But the point guard position is the position that has to be of the most concern to UL.

Very surprised by this.

I wouldn't want to be a UL player at their next practice.

CONGRATS to my Alma Mater!!!

This is kind of reminicent of a game I remember from LONG AGO! I was there when WKU beat UK (and my parents have the record of the game to prove it!!) way back when!! It's when Jim McDaniels etc were there. UK wouldn't play us anymore after that until recently. Anyone remember that game?

I was about 9 years old. UK got beaten like 100 something to 70 something...or at least 20 points. Tom Payne was in prison by then, our 7 foot 2 inch center. Also, WKU put it on UK in the early 2000 or 2001 season. They had a big center then as well but he was injured later on. All american but I forgot his name.

Chris Marcus maybe?

#1. Western Kentucky deserves this win. They out-hustled, out-rebounded, out-scrapped Louisville all afternoon.

#2. Pitiful, poor, pathetic effort by Louisville all day. As Wireman said, WKU just had more heart than UL.

#3. Rebounding...This falls under the pathetic effort listing. WKU did an excellent job getting bodies on UL and getting offensive AND defensive boards.

#4. UL obviously needed this loss. Maybe now they'll realize they can't just show up and win against these teams.

#5. Congrats to the Hilltoppers and their new coach. :thumb:

#6. Samuels didn't get enough touches...Sounds like another KY team.

Very well said,:thumb:!

I like teams that play hard every game, that have a will to win, regardless the opponent.

I know it is a long season but UL should have found a way to win yesterday. This is not a fatal flaw in UL's team but nonetheless it is somewhat disturbing.

I'd be shocked if Louisville got more than five offensive rebounds.

According to ESPN, they had 10. 6 by Samuels. WKU only had 11, but hey had 48 total to UofLs 34.

I'm more shocked that WKU won by 14 and only had 4 threes. They didn't just bomb away like VMI did.

Not the end of the world but it was pitful effort and believe they overlooked this WKU team.

Knowles had 3 points and fouled out. Smith had 0 points and fouled out. The entire team went 15 for 56 shooting. UofL went cold and didn't even try to get Samuels the ball. As much as you would like it to prove your point this loss was not just on the PG's.

UL looks very talented and very soft at this time!

Louisville has way too much talent to be laying this many eggs so far. Has to just be a crazy tough start for the Cards, in no way will I ever believe they are a bad team, even if the get a couple more of these loses. Did they even play any ball this offseason? I mean I thought Kentucky was starting slow, but geez. As poorly as they had started out I knew a L was coming soon, just didn't think it would be this one.

However, with that said, its fun to talk about right now, but is also more than likely one of those things in which we wont even remember come March. As stated Louisville is just too talented and too well coached to continue poor play throughout the year.

The UL/UK matchup should be very interesting this year.

It's basketball, everybody loses. Losses in basketball don't count nearly as much as they do in football, so why THAT worked up over one L?

True. It's November. They had about as bad a shooting performance as you can have and deserved to lose. You'd like to see Samuels rebound more (or anyone for that matter), get the ball inside more (off the dribble and to Samuels in the post), and shoot free throws better but a lot of it was just shots not falling. They had countless open looks but just didn't hit them.
