It's basketball, everybody loses. Losses in basketball don't count nearly as much as they do in football, so why THAT worked up over one L?

It's not the losses that bother me with UK. It's the quality of opponent that beat UK earlier this year that gets under my skin.

Very similar with the UL game today. Teams are going to lose games, it happens. However, the number 3 team in the nation should not lose to WKU.

WKU played a perfect game today and UL wasn't at their best. It happens.

Ugh!

One thing I know for sure, Coach Pitino will be issuing a few choice words to these guys this week, if he hasn't started already.

The talent is there, but they have to learn that they have to "bring it" every game. Hopefully this is a wakeup call. Cause they were sure caught napping today! WKU came knowing they'd have to play their best ball and did. Louisville never stepped up their game, and got flat out spanked!

That said....it's a long way to March, and I have every confidence that Coach Pitino will have them ready. He had a lot less to work with last year, and made it to the Elite 8. He's the master of March Madness! :D

The one concern I'd have if I were a UL fan would be the fact that this could have happened more than once this season.

This UL team tends to let inferior teams hang around too long. I actually thought UL would turn it on in the second half and win this one by 10-20 points. It didn't happen though.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the score. But WKU gave UK a early Xmas present several years ago with a double digit loss so there is precedent for this kind of thing.

This loss is bad but lets be honest the only thing it could mean is will UofL be a 2 or a 3 seed. Early season losses are like dating your cousin, if she is hot on prom night no one will remember shes your cousin.

I agree UL wasn't at their best... But I don't think WKU played a perfect game.

:creepy: I know this is Kentucky... But I don't think anyone will be dating anyone's cousin because of this loss.:thumb:

Congrats WKU, I can't believe it after watching MSU hammer us so badly. WKU could be a dangerous team if Evans & Magley start playing like they did late last season. Slaughter & Pettigrew can flat out play. Go Toppers!!!

Ugh!

I agree R-mom. Louisville just didn't seem to want this as bad as WKY. They better bring it every game. I am confident that Coach P will have them ready come post-season time.

I don't feel like reading through this whole thread, so forgive me if I'm covering ground already tread upon.

Two things stuck out the most to me:

AJ Slaughter obviously had a bone to pick with Pitino for not recruiting him, considering Slaughter grew up a Cardinal fan. He was spectacular.

While you're going to have bad days shooting, rebounding is not something at the whim of hot and cold. It's all about effort. It seemed like every single miss there were 3-4 white jerseys around. I'd be shocked if Louisville got more than five offensive rebounds.

Bottom line is they'll be OK. This might be a good wake-up call for the Cardinal players to quit worrying about press clippings.

I think UL will recover from this okay and be a very good team. But the big issue I talked about preseason with UL is point guard play. Sosa and McGee went a combined 0-13 with 1 assist and 4 turnovers. A lot of UL fans disagreed with me about Sosa and McGee, but IMO thats the 1 position keeping them fom being great.

If the PG's were the only ones who played poorly on offense today, you might have a point.

CONGRATS to my Alma Mater!!!

This is kind of reminicent of a game I remember from LONG AGO! I was there when WKU beat UK (and my parents have the record of the game to prove it!!) way back when!! It's when Jim McDaniels etc were there. UK wouldn't play us anymore after that until recently. Anyone remember that game?
