December 2, 200817 yr I was about 9 years old. UK got beaten like 100 something to 70 something...or at least 20 points. Tom Payne was in prison by then, our 7 foot 2 inch center. Also, WKU put it on UK in the early 2000 or 2001 season. They had a big center then as well but he was injured later on. All american but I forgot his name. ME TOO!!!! But since the parents were professors (and BIG BBALL FANS) we attended most of the games! I remember it was Jim McDaniel but was Clem Haskins on that team too? I SO remember the tying the shoe play!! It was AWSOME!!!
December 2, 200817 yr Chris Marcus maybe? I didn't think that was it but I looked it up and that is him. He beat us. I think maybe Patrick Sparks had something to do with it too.

December 2, 200817 yr Wow.. Lets hear it.. I have been so heartbroken over this I am just now able to post on it, too hurt to even read the entire thread. Congrats to the Hilltoppers!!!!
December 3, 200817 yr Is this the same WKU that got blown out (89-61) the other night by the Racers of Murray State University, or does this mean the Racers of Murray State are the best college basketball team in the Commonwealth this year! Not the same WKU team but I would say Murray is playing the best ball in the state right now.
December 3, 200817 yr I don't feel like reading through this whole thread, so forgive me if I'm covering ground already tread upon. Two things stuck out the most to me: AJ Slaughter obviously had a bone to pick with Pitino for not recruiting him, considering Slaughter grew up a Cardinal fan. He was spectacular. While you're going to have bad days shooting, rebounding is not something at the whim of hot and cold. It's all about effort. It seemed like every single miss there were 3-4 white jerseys around. I'd be shocked if Louisville got more than five offensive rebounds. Bottom line is they'll be OK. This might be a good wake-up call for the Cardinal players to quit worrying about press clippings. Maybe a bone to pick but AJ Slaughter was a very good HS player but not the caliber Pitino was looking for at the time. He certainly showed Ricky P that he has gotten better and can shine with the best of them. However, I saw Slaughter play in the state tournament and he wasnt a major D-1 type player back then. Atleast that is my opinion at the time. He certainly has developed his game and is certainly one now. Nice work AJ !!
