November 25, 200817 yr We already have the board games thread. So what are your favorite card games. Rook - This is the standard game we play with the family. I absolutely love it. I have probably played every version imaginable and they are all a good game. Buck Pitch - It is kind of a redneck version of spades designed for gambling. It is a strictly localized game played mainly in Nelson and LaRue counties. Gin - When there are only two people this is my go to game. Really good game, we generally play a penny a point. I have also played a lot of Spades but would much rather play Buck Pitch or Rook if I'm playing a partners game. Especially since so many people want to trade cards and crap like that. It has been forever since I've played it, but Euchre was a really good game as well, but nobody I hang out with really knows how to play it. When I was young my Aunt used to play Cribbage with me, but I have totally forgotten how to play. I have already told her to bring her board when she comes in for the holiday's, I remember liking it really well, just can't remember how to play.

November 25, 200817 yr Euchre or poker if I have my d'ruthers. At family gatherings, it's also common for us to play rum, floaters, 31 or others.
November 25, 200817 yr I love playing some Hold'em with the boys and some beer. But, euchre is by far my favorite to just play with family and stuff.
November 25, 200817 yr Euchre Rook Hearts Spades Gin - Hollywood Style Pinochle Casino Crazy 8's Almost every single one of them I don't get to play anymore. No one I know likes Euchre, and therefore has no idea how to play. Never can find enough players for Rook, Hearts, or Spades. Crazy 8's is a sentimental one. I used to play that all the time with my father. We had an epic series once, spanning months. We played a best of seven. Every time you won that, you got a point in the next column, also a best of seven. Every time you won that, you got a point in the next column, also a best of seven, etc. This sheet had five columns. It took forever! Also, do you guys play Rook with the Red 1?
