November 19, 200817 yr ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Rich Rodriguez loves to win -- and he hates to lose as much as anyone. Michigan's coach, though, tries to keep as much perspective as he can. Rodriguez has his wife and kids around him after practices, at the team hotel and on bus trips to the stadium. His office door is always wide open, allowing visitors to say hello. Heading into his first Michigan-Ohio State game -- where the Wolverines are expected to extend their dubious record with a ninth loss -- he tried to deliver a message to fans who have lost touch. "It's amazing some of the things that people would say [on a message board] or yell at you of a personal nature," Rodriguez said Monday. "You almost want to tell them, 'Get a life.' http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3710474
November 19, 200817 yr Hes very frustrated and I can see why because I'm frustrated with the wolvs this year!
November 19, 200817 yr I agree with him. I feel like shouting the same thing in UK threads a lot of times.
November 19, 200817 yr I agree with him. I feel like shouting the same thing in UK threads a lot of times. Rich Brooks said the same thing a couple of years back and he was right. Patience is hard to find when rebuilding a program.
November 19, 200817 yr He's ruffled many feathers in Ann Arbor, but I think within two years they will be back to the upper echilon of the Big11. The guys a good coach, once he starts getting his type of player they will be fine.
November 19, 200817 yr When things are going bad, got to be able to handle the rough times, to really enjoy the sweet ones. Worst record, in how many years....They have a right, to be upset with him.
November 19, 200817 yr I imagine the things that are being yelled deserve a "Get a Life", at the very least. Regardless of his record...
November 19, 200817 yr I imagine the things that are being yelled deserve a "Get a Life", at the very least. Regardless of his record...Got to remember, fans have never been accused of being rational. For decades, one could count Michigan in pre-season top 10 and usually, in final 5. Time may heal all wounds, but it sure is uncomfortable, passing time.
November 19, 200817 yr I see so many fans screaming and yelling do this, do that and this what the coach should have done. Rodriguez came into Michigan with a different style of player it took 7 years to build at WVU. So many fans want to criticize "the now" and beg for more. A true fan of any sport will get frustrated but yet will support the university, the program from top to bottom and hope for the best. But blaming the new guy for the horrible season, those are the arm chair coaches that need to seriously get a life. Anytime a new coach takes over, it takes time for the players, staff, administration and fans to adapt to the new style. IF you don't like it when you lose, you're not a true fan.. just one who wants to blame the bad on someone you don't know and a job you can't do.
November 19, 200817 yr ^It takes more time in football than basketball as well....I think within the next two years Rich Rod will have the Wolverines back where they belong.

Chris Henry and PacMan Jones were big players in that process at his last stop. He'll be fired before he gets the chance to infect UM with "his guys"...
November 19, 200817 yr I say give Rodriguez time. He really doesn't have the athletes needed to run his offense which is the reason for their struggles.
November 19, 200817 yr Chris Henry and PacMan Jones were big players in that process at his last stop. He'll be fired before he gets the chance to infect UM with "his guys"... I don't know those guys (Henry/Jones) track record at WVU, but they did win quit a few games. Just because they didn't pan out in the real world, don't mean Rod mad a poor choice, simply they were bad kids, from a bad background given an opportunity. They are responsible for their actions, but fall back on the head coach no matter what, but he kept on keeping on and winning. It happens to all programs that you'll recruit a few that fall through the cracks but have all the hype and potential. A program can't be changed overnight and within a year, maybe two but once a good recruiting class to fit the style of play the Head Coach brings, then more success will be provided. If you are a loyal fan, support your team and coaches, staff, administration and be patient. If you are calling 'RR' a bad guy for taking on a challenge at UM, you must not know much about coaching at all :sssh:
