Secondly, I should have clarified. My first post was directed at the McCain supporters who have voiced that they will support Obama as their President.

My support and how I conduct myself matters to me, regardless of what anyone else thinks. Come on, All Tell, rise above those that didn't do right by Bush (and the US) the first time. Be better then them, not meeting them on their same level.

 

IMVHO it would be totally hypocritical to express support for Obama when there is nothing that I can think of that I agree with him on. As I've said many times he scares me. Part of that is because we really have no idea where he will try to take this country.

 

Obama will be the President and I will give the respect due to the office but no more.

I agree. I was not and I am not a Nixon fan. IMO, he was a horrible president.

It could be argured that Nixon and Gore got hammered by very powerful American families.

As far as Nixon goes, don't forget his 1st two elections, especially the one against Voorhis. He accused him (and the next woman he defeated, name?) of being communist. It almost killed Voorhis, who was bitter to the day he died.

 

Oh, the kicker? Nixon admitted later that he made it all up, that he lied, but he had to do anything to win. "Anything to win" were his exact words..

 

So please don't make him out to be a saint.

I don't understand the guilty until proven innocent mindset I'm seeing from so many people.

 

His slate is clean... We should judge him when he takes office in January, and not minutes after he is elected.

 

I'm open to explanations, though.
