Four years ago, listening to Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention, you could see it coming. I just never expected it this soon.

My political science prof. at the time predicted it. I didn't believe him. Never thought it would happen this soon...definitely though he would've been to green to get elected this soon.

I listened to the whole "Coal" interview. Those statements, though posted in a forum, were NOT what he said. However, I guess now is not the time to go through all of that.

 

Were my ears lying? I listened to his own words, what did I miss? Plus Biden said the same thing. How did I misunderstand both of them?

 

 

And yes, his acceptance speech was very eloquent.

What a great day for America! I know several of you did not vote for Obama and some of you will never support him, but everyone has to know what this does for the outlook for the USA. The Land of Opportunity! What a great county I live in.

I was under the impression he said if the coal companies don't follow the environmental rules, they will be bankrupted by the fines. So if they play by the rules (which will be hard for the coal companies), they should have no problem.

I would also like to give my respect to McCain. I thought through out this campaign that he was a great man and would have made a good president. If he had to do it again, I wonder if he would have pick Palin? Either way, I wish him the best in helping Obama fix our great nation!

As much as I oppose all Obama represents, let's just hope his presidency ends on a better note than JFK's.

But he said they would make the restrictions so tough that they couldn't afford to pay all the fines. He's also against clean coal, which may be the wave of the future. Supposedly, it is much lower emission. We knows Biden is against clean coal, cause he said he wants the Chinese to have all the coal companies. I hate the coal companies too, because they are so destructive, but don't think they should be legistlated out of business this quickly. They should be allowed to develop the clean coal procedure.

 

Honestly, if they would just allow me to install a windmill in my front yard (or back) like I want, I wouldn't have any issues with this. But my neighborhood assoc is freaking out because it's twice the size of my house. I'm trying to be green, and sell power back to LG&E. Maybe Obama can nuke my association for me.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, first off congrats to president Obama, I wish him all the best. And second off, alot of the grudges that will be held against Obama go way deeper than his proposed policies while in office and that's all I am going to say on this subject. Did you listen to the interview? If so, where did Obama clarify his statements?

What he said is that utility companies that choose to build new coal-fired power plants will be free to do so, then they will go bankrupt under his cap and trade program. He repeated that statement during the interview and he explicitly said that because of the high cost of his program, those costs will be passed on to consumers, whose electric bills will necessarily skyrocket. Obama was not ambiguous on this subject.

Exactly...my vote,as yours,counted only to give a majority to pass 8 votes to the electoral. Who is going to be given more attention by the candidates? Kentucky with 8 ev or California with 55....no brainer!
