I agree. I was not and I am not a Nixon fan. IMO, he was a horrible president.

 

Nixon did a couple of good things. He went to China and finally had enough backbone to say enough is enough in Vietnam. Other than that not alot. He was a liberal Republican.

I don't understand the guilty until proven innocent mindset I'm seeing from so many people.

 

His slate is clean... We should judge him when he takes office in January, and not minutes after he is elected.

 

I'm open to explanations, though.

 

I guess I'm taking him at his word, the words he spoke as a lawyer and a professor and a senator over the past 15 years. He has said some very scary things, things he'd like to do. His desire to "bankrupt the coal industry" will have a very negative affect on KY, and my electric bill.

 

So his slate is not entirely clean in my eyes, but I can overlook those words, and long as he does not follow through with them.

Secondly, I should have clarified. My first post was directed at the McCain supporters who have voiced that they will support Obama as their President.

 

Thats how I took it that you were saying. And I agree with you. I am a McCain supposrter but I want our country to be the best in the future, and for that to happen, we do need to support Obama, even if thats not who you supported in the first place. I hope he blows my expectations out of the water and proves me to be wrong. I just want the US to continue to be the greatest nation in the world.

IMVHO it would be totally hypocritical to express support for Obama when there is nothing that I can think of that I agree with him on. As I've said many times he scares me. Part of that is because we really have no idea where he will try to take this country.

The way that we exited Vietnam was a national disgrace, IMO, and led to the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent people in SE Asia. I remember Nixon for his stupid slogans like "Peace with honor" and "Whip Inflation Now." I guess he did prove that wage and price controls do not work.

Any chance of seeing increased domestic oil production just went out the window, and BTW the price of crude oil went up $7 a gallon today.
