I believe it was an Ashland supporter calling for a "Blank at the Hank."

As the apparent lone Raceland poster in this thread (although a "shifty" one in the yes of Ram fans because I believe in supporting both Raceland AND Russell and think too many grown-ups act like children over the rivarly ie not talking about the game, calling one or the other "little brother", making fun of the others stadium, etc.) I've given the Devils their due.

 

The fact is Russell could very well win this game. And the Raceland players and coaches are well aware of that and THAT is what matters. These games aren't won or lost in BGP threads believe it or not. What any of you say here should have no bearing on what happens on Friday nights. And if it does? Then that is a failure by the Coaching Staff. But I've never heard of some kid coming out to play on a friday night and not doing well because the BGP poll didn't go in their favor or because Fan A complained about the size of your stadium. Come on now. Let's be realistic. If a player needs a post from BGP to get pumped to play he needs to quit playing. Period.

 

We adults put too much stock in these things. This place is supposed be a fun place to talk about the game. Period. And anyone who makes more of it than that is fooling themselves.

In all fairness, that was not a Raceland fan that made those predictions.:irked:

 

Ryan, as for the line, I just think that the Russell line is faster and will be a lot better this week, no inside information, just my thoughts.

Good post. I totally agree.

I tell you right now, Russell will hand Raceland's backside to them. I watch a lot of North-Eastern Kentucky football, and Raceland in not up to the challenge.

 

Raceland's offensive line is not strong enough, and Boyles makes to many bad throws. Raceland's defense will not have an answer for Russell's running game.

Dude, I know your dad is a TV repairman with an awesome set of tools. Perhaps you could borrow them to tweak your mindset on what has transpired this season over there in Raceland. Did you watch Raceland vs. Ashland? They dominated that game up front. How about the other games where Raceland ran all over their opponents. Common sense says this, Raceland beat Ashland at their place, Russell got lambasted by Ashland at Ashland, therefore, No chance Russell hangs with the Rams. Write it down, Raceland by 2 TDs +!

Do you think that all of the "Raceland Fans" relunctancy to engage in this thread is because they are unwilling to step into such a heated debate? Maybe they are not "cocky" and are just taking the high road by not ruffling so many feathers close to home. If some of you remember back to the Ashland/Raceland thread, there were a lot of emotions played out on here, and maybe this time they don't want that to happen. I say, just let the boys play and forget about it.

I'll bet a team from Greenup County wins this game.

This should be a fantastic game to watch, and if I could just figure out how to be in two places at one time, I would be in attendance for this contest.

I would love to be at this one, too, but I will be working in a haunted house in Flatwoods during the game. Maybe some of the BGPers who go will stop by and tell me how it went afterwards.

No I went to both schools. And I believe we are close enough together to support each others kids and each others programs. Unfortunately some people can't take their Orange and Black or Maroon and Gold colored glasses off long enough to have some class and support the community no matter if it's Raceland or Russell doing well. I've heard too many people from both sides root against the other no matter who they are playing. I just think that's the wrong attitude.

Shouldn't be a heated debate. Should be two communities talking about a great game for the community and the kids. But you are right. If they don't think they can restrain themselves from turning it into to a heated debate then they are making the right call. I agree that this should be a fun game, but you know, as well as I, that there are people who believe that Raceland should not be a contender in this area because of their size. These people will stop at nothing to show their disdain for the "little brother" (as someone else called them) being able to beat anyone else in this area. I can't stand the comments that "so-and-so is a 4A school, there is no way that a 1A school should EVER beat them." Remember this, it's not the size of the dog in the fight.....

I would urge you to not be too judgmental on the fans Red Rambler…apparently, you are in a unique position, having attended both schools, and thereby loyal to neither. Your position is a bit more understandable now.

 

FWIW, I have lived in Raceland myself, have had children who attended both Raceland and Ashland and can wish both programs well. My personal roots are in Ashland, and when those two teams play, I root for the Tomcats, but other than that game, always want to see the Rams succeed.

 

The Raceland community loves their high school football…no ifs, ands or buts about it. For the most part, I believe we all have had some very civil discussions about this upcoming game. We are talking about football though…if you cant get passionate about your team and this sport, perhaps you can start a separate thread about the food drive contest...that’s a most worthy cause and everyone wins in that contest…even those with allegiances to both schools. :thumb:

Raceland has had a couple of good teams the last couple of years. I don't think this suddenly turns into a great program over the course of a great group of kids coming through, does raceland even have a district Championship? Hopefully Raceland will become a better overall program after this season, but from the looks of things it will go back to the old Raceland who will get manhandled by most schools in the area year in and year out. So while most people feel Raceland should win this game and have a good post season, I'd say over the next 10 years they will be lucky to keep within 150 total points with either Ashland or Russell.
