From 1990 to 1999 Russell posted a cumulative record of 81 – 37 and Raceland logged a total of 77 – 37. During that time span, Russell had two loosing seasons: 1990 the devils went 2 -9 (there surly had to be a 3 game skid in that season). Raceland had only a single loosing season at 5 – 6 in 1993.

It is my understanding that they not only play in 2009, but also in 2010. You might have to check with oldrambler or one of the other Raceland guys on the board for a definite answer.

Russell has enjoyed a phenomenal ride under Ivan McGlone.

How did this game play out last season? I know the final score was 35 - 14 Russell...but from what I recollect, Raceland came out strong…then faded in the second half.

 

How much will bragging rights influence the outcome of Raceland/Russell Chapter 2?

Raceland didn't have the horses to keep with Russell last season. Russell had a much better line in 2007 than they do this season and Raceland has a better line THIS season then they did last season. Raceland won't wear down this year. I can guarantee you that.

 

I've only got to see Russell once this year against Ashland. They just seemed to lack a leader on the field and they got pushed around up front. If they want to beat the Rams they will have to play much better in the trenches. That's where games are won and lost.

 

I know we can say the evidence points to a Raceland win, especially after this past Friday. But rivalries have a funny way of going the other way sometimes. Raceland can't take Russell for granted. They need to remember last season and take care of business.

I said it in a earlier thread and I'll say it again. No one IMO can stop the Rams from having a perfect season ...except the RAms. When the Raiders would play the Devils we always had it in the back of our minds that they were unbeatable. Alot of the time we were whipped before we began.

 

THe Rams have the weapons to make this VERY ugly in Russell Friday night if they don't let it get in their heads. This is a big game for the Rams especially emotionally.

I think that this will be a great game. I think that Raceland will come out on top in a close one. 28-27

I don't think bulletin board material is really needed for Raceland in this one. This year's Russell team is a world away from being as good as last year's team and is a galaxy away from being as good as the '05 and '06 teams. Let's face it. The stars are aligned for the Rams in this one. This game pits the best Raceland team in a decade against the worst Russell team in a decade. No bulletin board material is needed when you simply have the better team.

 

 

 

And darn it, I really wanted to come on here and give you Raceland guys a hard time about how Russell is going to win this week! But after witnessing this Russell team play again tonight, I have to say they are going need a turnaround for the ages to beat Raceland. And since I don't think they are allowed to bring back Tyler Jones, Adam Foster, Toby Hicks, Jonathan Cornwell, and Greg Bender from last year's team, the facts are the facts. Raceland should beat this team and beat them badly.

Look, you have to admit, whenever the fans and community are behind you and cheer the team on, the team seems to want to win or at least try. Don't get me wrong I know Russell is down to comparable standards of just the last 3 to 4 years. I know I am a little spoiled. I just want to show some encouragment to these young men and the coaching staff.

 

I am looking at these kids accomplishments through the years. Yes there have been some kids come and go, but for the most part they are the same kids. Doesn't seem to have the heart they use to have. I think it is there just trying to find it.

 

I won't pout if Russell gets bet, as long as they play hard all 4 quarters and play with emotion and heart.

This Halloween, the treats will go to Raceland, and the tricks are reserved for the Devils. I think this one will be an exciting game, but the Rams will be victorious once again.
