Debate #3

Featured Replies

Head Start and Early CHildhood have been abject failures.

It is nothing but glorified day care.

It definitely needs reformed.

I disagree. Two of my children tested much higher entering kindergarten than they did pre-head start. My daughter came home the other day and wrote her full name for me. She didn't know her ABCs six months ago. I couldn't write my full name until the second grade. Based on what I have seen, I will disagree.

I also disagree...

It helped my brother greatly, as well as a cousin of mine. Day care would not of done anything for either one of them.

Great to hear, but I am willing to bet that you are an involved parent. That is key.

From things I have been told, these programs have not resulted in success for inner city schools.

It is good to get kids in a structured environment, but if they are not learning anything and retaining it, then there are issues.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. Huge poll numbers for Obama in debate #3:

CBS poll, uncommitted voters: 53% Obama, 22% McCain

CNN Poll, uncommitted voters: 58% Obama, 31% McCain

I don't live in the inner city so I don't feel like a program that helps my child should be discontinued because they aren't successful in the inner city. In the same way, Abortion does not affect me directly and has never affected me. Therefore, I don't base my vote what a candidate thinks about it.

Those people must have been watching a different debate. Even the most vocal Obama supporters have to admit this one was at best a draw for Obama.

Somehow I doubt it. I can't pronounce judgement, though, as I was watching Phillies/Dodgers.

I did switch to CNN after the game was over. The concensus there was that McCain did well early, got bogged down with the Ayers stuff, then kind of fizzled. There was one on the panel who felt that McCain clearly won, the others said it was either a draw, or that Obama won.

Maybe so. But evidently the uncommitted voters had a different take.:thumb:

 People say that Fox is bias, the only more bias media that the two you have listed here is NBC/MSNBC which are one and the same.

All of this doesn't really matter though, the only poll that matters is not a poll at all and that is the final vote result late in the night on Nov4th or early morning on Nov. 5th. :thumb:

I have always said that the only thing that polls do is keep some people away from voting, they see all of these numbers on the news and figure it is not worth it.

Now I think I see why NBC/CNN/ CBS may have posted numbers like that :sssh:.

I would be suprised if the NBC numbers are not greater in "Ducky" Obama's favor than the ones here. they are the Obama campaign headquarters.

Oh My (in the words of STRIKE3), I just now looked ant the clock, lol......see you guys (and gals)

In all honesty, I don't buy for a second when these stations have their "uncommited" voter polls, or their "uncommited" audiences.....If a station or a group ever called me or anything like that, I would say I'm undecided too.

I also agree and would probably say the same thing.

Both the CBS and CNN debate polls have held up after each debate, so I think they are a fairly good indicator of how the country is viewing this. And, again, it probably has a lot more to do with the Republican in the White House than it does McCain's actual performance. I haven't had a chance to watch the debate yet, so I can't offer personal comment, but from those I trust they've given McCain reviews that indicate this is the performance he should have been giving from the first debate on. The problem is Obama didn't fall on his face, so it's far too little far too late.

MSNBC

Obama 56%

McCain 35%

CNN

Obama 58%

McCain 31%

CBS News

Obama 85.07%

McCain 13.03%

1.90% said draw

WNBC

Obama 70%

McCain 27%

Looks like a 3 game sweep.

The top 50% of wage earners pay more than 97% of federal income taxes. 36% of Americans pay zero federal income taxes, yet they will get a "tax cut" under Obama's plan.
That's called theft.

A point that McCain missed to hammer home the Obama taxing.

Obama talked about the need to get the automakers back to working.

I guess he feels the best way to do that is to raise their corporate tax rate. Yeah, raise the taxes that Ford, Chevrolet and Chrysler has to pay. That will increase jobs.

US has the 2nd highest corporate tax rates in the world and we wonder why businesses are taking jobs overseas.
