October 16, 200818 yr We've been talking about that for years, and throwing money at it hasn't done anything. The education system needs a complete philosophical overhaul. I would agree.
October 16, 200818 yr sticky, vouchers in a nutshell provide you with a tax chit from the government representing the amount you paid for education taxes, which you can then utilize at the school, public or private, of your choice to enroll your child, and the school takes the chit and then calls for payment upon the government for all or a portion of the amount in the chit. You, of course, make up any shortfall.
October 16, 200818 yr ^ Hearsay, you made one very popular post in this thread! Well, at least I'm good for something. My wife and kids are mad at me tonight.
October 16, 200818 yr Questioning someone's voting record or political alliances is not rude and disrespectful, Deuce. Its debate. Ah yes, the wildly popular Eric Cartman school of debate: Cartman: [begins pacing] Yes. This is a difficult case. In order to win the debate, we will need to attack Stan and Kyle's credibility. Wendy: [stunned] What?? Cartman: That's how you win these things: attack your opponents' credibility! [starts barking orders] Butters! Take some kids and go dig up whatever dirt you can on Kyle's past. I'm talkin' booby magazines, whatever. Butters: Wwuhuh-o-kay! [hops off his chair. Wendy watches him leave] Cartman: The rest of you, go get the goods on Stan! His mom grounded him once for setting something on fire. Let's find out what that something was, and then lie and say it was a puppy. Gotta hate politics.

October 16, 200818 yr I think McCain did a great job tonight. Don't know if it is enough to move the polls but it was a decent job.

October 16, 200818 yr That's what I thought, but why do they say we shouldn't throw money at the situation when in fact, we're throwing money at the situation? Because if enough people choose vouchers, the onus is then on the school to perform. If they don't, they go out of business. The way at is now, a school can trudge along in the fog of bureaucratic mediocrity and get paid regardless. Vouchers are at least a capitalist's response.
October 16, 200818 yr I thought McCain did very well early on, but once it got to Ayers, he fell off and never recovered.

October 16, 200818 yr Drink too much? No, the dog got out and I stayed to watch the debate rather than help look for him.
October 16, 200818 yr I thought McCain did very well early on, but once it got to Ayers, he fell off and never recovered. I disagree. McCain was loose and businesslike tonight. His responses to the healthcare and school voucher questions were far more effective than Obama's and he walked through the door Obama opened on Ayers and Acorn and asnwered them firmly and respectfully. Obama's performance tonight was truncated and un-Obamaish.
