October 16, 200818 yr No, the dog got out and I stayed to watch the debate rather than help look for him.
October 16, 200818 yr I disagree. McCain was loose and businesslike tonight. His responses to the healthcare and school voucher questions were far more effective than Obama's and he walked through the door Obama opened on Ayers and Acorn and asnwered them firmly and respectfully. Obama's performance tonight was truncated and un-Obamaish. Understand your position. Of course what really matters though, is being so far down in the polls coming in, McCain had to really knock it out of the park. Do you think he did well enough to close the gap?
October 16, 200818 yr Hearsay, the most important question - did they find the dog? Yes, the dog came back on his own (like he always does) and sat with me for 20 minutes before they came come all tired and mosquito-bitten. Come to think of it, maybe they're mad because I didn't holler for them when the dog came home . . .
October 16, 200818 yr McCain with a decisive win. He has any chance in November, this gave it to him.

Do you think he did well enough to close the gap? Lets put it this way, I think he placated an awful lot of his own base that was demanding exactly what many of them were demanding at his rallies last week. DO WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO. Ayers and Acorn are important to us. He didn't shirk it and maybe salvaged many of those votes. I still think Obama's got this one.
October 16, 200818 yr If you're a Republican, McCain won. If you're a Democrat, Obama won. End of debate. Why argue about it? Go to the polls and settle it.
October 16, 200818 yr There is typical comments from liberals on this thread, that imo is as predictable as the sun coming up tommorrow. My response and opinion is probably predictable to those as well, they probably don't care and I couldn't care less eithere care less, LOL. As for this debate, I honestly feel that McCain won this one w/o question. Obama was finally exposed by McCain for what he is and the people that he associates with. I personally have been waiting on McCain to call him on some of these things and imo he could have and should have hit him harder. I did notice that Obama used that sarcastic little smile every time that he knew McCain had nailed him, which was a lot in this one. I disagree with some of what McCain says, I don't think that anyone completely agrees with all of either Obama or McCains plans no matter who you support. Like I said, McCain called Obama out for the liar that he is and named specifics. McCain is FOR America imo, Obama is as well (I guess) but also is in favor of sitting down with people that want to kill us and have killed our innocent people on 9/11...... If not directly, they were in favor of it. Obama is in favor of the murder (abortion) of innocent children, he has voted and supported that and if elected he will be appointing the people on the supreme court that will assure that. Obama' health plans are a complete JOKE! Although not discussed, Obama is in favor of taking our guns and doing away with the 2nd amendment to the constitution. McCain tends to honor this country's founders while Obama could care less. These are of course all my opinions and the way I see things....Obama I believe may have and probably did win the 1st debate. Tom Brokaw won the 2nd debate making it all about himself and the mainstream media and not the cantidates or the issues - the 2nd debate was a waste for everyone, typical Brokaw and NBC. This debate imo McCain completely destroyed Obama but then again if someone was listening for a well spoken polished politician that says what people want to hear and ducks every question ask of him then Obama is your man. Best Line/shot of this debate was by Mccain..."If you want to run against George Bush then you should have ran four years ago". I am not trying to elect a well spoken great debater. Obama mnay very well win this election but Not By My Vote.............. I am voting for a TRUE AMERICAN ticket and that is McCain/Palin! I certainly don't agree with all that they say but I do agree with their morals and what they stand for........... and I certainly cannot say that about those other two. My name is Oldrambler and I approved this message. Thank you and have a good night .:thumb:
October 16, 200818 yr If you're a Republican, McCain won. If you're a Democrat, Obama won. End of debate. Why argue about it? Go to the polls and settle it. You have missed one...............Joe the Plummer won this debate , he was mentioned enough times.
October 16, 200818 yr I think McCain won this debate for the first time in the 3 debates. I thought Obama won the first one handily and the 2nd one, although by a much closer margin. However, I am not sure McCain did enough to win the election based on this debate. The next 3 weeks will tell the tale and we will all just have to cast our votes and see what happens. I thought Obama made a mistake by not disavowing ACORN as outside of MSNBC, they are getting hammered for their activities. I thought McCain made a mistake not pressing him harder on it. I thought McCain made a mistake by not discussing Obama's support of the Freedom of Choice Act which makes all abortions at any time in the pregnancy legal and in some cases, paid for with tax dollars. While many independents and swing voters are pro abortion, very few are for abortions with no virtually no limits. I though Obama did well on education and pointed to the points that he and McCain actually agree on. However, I thought McCain countered well with the fact that noone in the world spends more for education and gets less and that throwing money at the problem won't make it better. I thought Obama's point about how a spending freeze would somehow stop progress on helping children with autism and McCain did not counter that well at all. I thought McCain started very strong but Obama held his ground on most issues. I also thought that when McCain had the chance to hammer home some points, he missed driving the nail deeper. I thought McCain had to win big and Obama just had to not make any huge mistakes. I thought McCain won, but not by much. Obama didn't do anything to hurt himself and he is in the drivers seat right now.
October 16, 200818 yr Has Obama ever responded to the $832,000 his campaign gave ACORN? He sure had the opportunity tonight when McCain specifically mentioned it, but he specifically ducked it. The response to the "tying him to Bush" remark was fantastic, and even the most staunch Obama supporters on here should concede that Obama's approach to that is old and tired. However, McCain could have tied Obama's policies to the Democratic policies of the 90's and he didn't do that.

My new name for Obama is "Ducky".
October 16, 200818 yr Disappointed Conservative here tonight. The door was left wide open for McCain on a few fronts and he didn't close the deal. He could have pressed the Ayers issue more by tying it to education and how Obama gave grants to political causes not math and reading...which is fact. He should have brought up Jeremiah Wright...Rezko, and ACORN more firmly. He should have blasted Obama on the infanticide...he let him off. McCain was more forceful... On healthcare, he should have said employers under the Obama bill could drop you from their helathcare so you can pickup the government health care. McCain did better but could have done more.
