October 16, 200818 yr Hearsay...what did you think about McCain going after Sen Lewis's comments about he and Palin being segregationists? Obama would not repudiate them. Also, do you smell a automaker buyout coming? Certainly a Chrysler buyout, and I think this is where Warren Buffett, who has been strangely quiet, comes into play.
October 16, 200818 yr Why do I care what they say? Because they are the national association of businesses who look at these things b/c they ar the ones most effected. Do you ignore all sources and just go with what you think?
October 16, 200818 yr The top 25% of of all wage earners pay 86% of all income taxes. That is pretty hefty. Spread the wealth....take money from wage earners and give to those who pay no income tax. And how much are those wage earners earning? What percentage of all income?
October 16, 200818 yr More than their share? If you make more money, aren't you taxed more? Wouldn't you be better suited to afford such a tax increase? The top 50% of wage earners pay more than 97% of federal income taxes. 36% of Americans pay zero federal income taxes, yet they will get a "tax cut" under Obama's plan.
October 16, 200818 yr I agree, Hearsay, but when Obama did not mention his training of ACORN, it would not have taken much time to have thrown a jab to show Obama was not telling the truth. However, McCain had tremendous pressure on him tonight and I agree that he deserves credit for turning in a pretty good performance. Kudos to Bob Schieffer as well. NBC and Tom Brokaw have been the big losers in these debates. Schieffer was outstanding and should be hired permanently.
October 16, 200818 yr And how much are those wage earners earning? What percentage of all income? I don't know about income, but they do control over 90% of the wealth in the country.
October 16, 200818 yr Because they are the national association of businesses who look at these things b/c they ar the ones most effected. Do you ignore all sources and just go with what you think? No, but as Hearsay just pointed out with his link, what you said is false....
October 16, 200818 yr And how much are those wage earners earning? What percentage of all income? It doesn't matter. Everyone should have to pay the same percentage. I'll ask again, why should the successful have to support those who won't support themselves?
October 16, 200818 yr I don't know about income, but they do control over 90% of the wealth in the country. Sounds like 86% is fair to me then...
October 16, 200818 yr It doesn't matter. Everyone should have to pay the same percentage. I'll ask again, why should the successful have to support those who won't support themselves? They shouldn't. If you don't help yourself, you shouldn't get help from anybody. I agree on that point. But I don't agree that everyone should pay the same amount....
October 16, 200818 yr I think McCain did a great job tonight. Don't know if it is enough to move the polls but it was a decent job. :thumb: You may be right about the polls and I also agree about Mccain "knocking it out of the park" tonight. McCain imo honestly had Obama shaken most of the night. "The One" was very uncomfortable.
October 16, 200818 yr They shouldn't. If you don't help yourself, you shouldn't get help from anybody. I agree on that point. But I don't agree that everyone should pay the same amount.... I'm curious to hear your reasoning for that...
October 16, 200818 yr I don't know about income, but they do control over 90% of the wealth in the country.Apples and oranges. The wealthy pay property taxes on much of that wealth. The relevant comparisons are income tax to income tax and property tax to property tax. The wealthy pay more than their fair share of federal income taxes. Raising taxes during a recession makes no sense.
