I don't think rockmom is disputing what Hussein did. Genocide is a broad term that includes the attempted elimination of any group for ethnic, racial, religious, or political reasons (my addition). She's just being specific.

So was Rwanda ethnocide or genocide?

That really had me laughing.

The internationally accepted term is genocide, but like I said it encompasses many things. But it was specifically an ethnocide. The Hutus killed the Tutsis for being Tutsis.

Well, after McCain's answer to question #1 I poured a snifter of brandy and its just going downhill from there . . .

Bourbon didn't work for the VP debate either....

I'm looking for a job in government.

He's a maverick.

Very good both of you. :thumb:

Very good. Now back to the bad German as previously promised to all.

Obama thinks we should intervene when genocide is happening, but you don't here him talking about how Saddam was committing his own genocide before the war.

Saddam wasn't committing genocide after the no-fly zones were imposed after the first Gulf War. He wasn't committing genocide between the time the no-fly zones were set up and when we invaded in 2003. He was contained at a low cost to America and our Allies. Even McCain said that our intervention should be tempered by our ability to beneficially affect the situation. I believe we missed that consideration when we invaded Iraq. We're still holding that place together with 140,000+ troops and billions of dollars a week and there's no guarantee we will be able to disengage cleanly.

When the Buggers come to our planet to commit xenocide, nobody will care what Saddam did.

Anyone else get this? :D

Yes, we hear RTS speak against McCain a lot.

And, for the record, Obama isn't themost perfect person.

Correct, that would be PepRock.:D

I was entertained reading the countless number of people in this thread whining about the "shots" McCain was taking at Obama by.....wait for it....taking shots themselves. Pot meet kettle.

McCain is an idiot.

Obama, well I can't think of anything I can say to accurately describe my feelings about him that wouldn't get my suspended from here, so let's just leave it at that.

Bob Barr gets my vote 100% for sure after watching this garbage.

It was a landslide! Obama beat McCain on every issue. Just look at the polls and you will see the American opinion. Not a good evening for McCain.

Speaking of taking shots, do that anytime McCain says "my friends" and every time Obama says "look" or "listen" and you're bound to have a good time.
