October 2, 200817 yr Love how the Reds fans like to pile on Like how the Cubs fans kept piling on about Dusty, Patterson and the Reds being awful. I've heard a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down in the most delightful way...
October 2, 200817 yr Like how the Cubs fans kept piling on about Dusty, Patterson and the Reds being awful. I've heard a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down in the most delightful way... There's a difference between how poorly the Reds are ran and a team with back to back division titles who are still in the playoffs, thanks though:thumb:
October 2, 200817 yr Fickle Cubs fans at Wrigley? Oh come on now. I'll get blasted for this but I noticed it even after DeRosa's home run. Because of the wind and cold, it seemed like the TBS broadcast didn't have as many natural field mics. There was very little natural game noise. And it sounded like Stockton and crew had the front windows closed and were calling the game from an indoor building. It did seem subdued GT. Not sure why. I do know from the few games I get to see on WGN and even ESPN, there seems like there is more natural sound on those networks. You can call it lame but unless you watch a bunch of Cubs games on TV, you can't make the comparison. Much like me going to a Bengals game and saying how quiet it is there. I think Loney's grand slam sent them into a drunken shock from which they didn't recover. I've seen it at high school football games when one team makes a huge play and scores a touchdown to go up by two scores. It takes a whole lot to get them back up and going.
October 2, 200817 yr Love how the Reds fans like to pile on Not as much as I love seeing Cubs fans disappointed year after year...
October 2, 200817 yr Waiting for the inevitable. Which is odd because we heard all season on here that the "curse" doesn't matter...:lol: So true..
October 2, 200817 yr It was strange watching the Cubs after watching the White Sox on Monday and Tuesday. As I was watching the Cubs game, I really was "expecting the worse" and just wondering when the error, the walk, etc would happen. It was actually difficult to enjoy the game, even with the early lead, because you always expected the other shoe to drop. With the White Sox, you are still expecting bad things to happen, but not because of a curse because the team is godawful on defense and the bullpen. Pretty simple for the Cubs now, win tomorrow or it's over.
October 2, 200817 yr This series kind of tears me up, actually. I still hold the old venom for the Dodgers, left over from the old NL West battles with the Redlegs. At the same time, I'm gradually building up a dislike for the Cubs and the other current NL Central rivals, the Pirates excepted. But the Dodgers have Manny, who is one of the most electric players I've ever watched. The desire to see him continue to come up with big moments in the postseason is kind of winning out. I just have to keep reminding myself that Orel Hershiser, Burt Hooton and Steve Garvey aren't with the Dodgers any longer.
October 2, 200817 yr This series tears me up because I want to see the Cubs blow it in the World Series.
October 2, 200817 yr The Cubs played about as bad as I've seen them play last night--Dempster's wildness was baffling. I had a very sick child last evening, so I missed quite a bit of the game, which I guess was a good thing. The Dodgers are a very sound team and Manny makes them a great team. Hopefully the Cubs can ride Big Z to the victory tonight--I'm just thankful it's a best of 5 and not a one-game playoff.

Hopefully he will be at the top of his game.
