Last night was Dempster giving up 7 walks, Soriano continuing his playoff futility, DLee grounding into his usual DP, etc. It was not a curse by any means. The "curse" FWIW is something bizarre that occurs, a "Cubbie occurrence" as Lou stated. But what those of you that are so gleefully piling on will never get or understand is this--being a Cubs fan is something we are always proud of. Even if it goes to 101 years or more, I will still always proudly proclaim myself a fan of the Chicago Cubs. Here's what SI writer Gary Smith (a Phillies fan) said about Cubs fans: "But I felt no pity for them as I wobbled out of Wrigleyville. They could lose for 100 more years, and they still had what neither I nor any other fans in sports did, on the schedule every year from now till kingdom come or Wrigley go. Eighty-one chances to be children again." Amen, Mr. Smith.

Lou said he did not consider taking Dempster out before the Loney grand slam.:confused: I do not know if he didn't want a repeat of the pull-Big Z-in-5th-to-save-for-Game 5-fiasco of last year, but Dempster was all over the place and should have come out. I know he worked out of a big jam in the 3rd, but you just knew the Dodgers' players were going to come through. They were very disciplined and took lots of pitches. The Dodgers were clearly the better team last night. And I'll say this, Manny's HR was absolutely sick! He hit that over 400 ft from his shoelaces! Wow!

Get real, I'm not jumping ship, if they lose tonight then we have grounds to be worried, but if they come back an win tonight, then its a best of 3 series with Harden and Lilly then Dempster again, I'd like our chances.
