October 2, 200817 yr Game 1 is over. Dodgers lead the series 1-0 I picked LA in 5 and it looks like it could happen.
October 2, 200817 yr In a 5 game series, game #2 is critical for setting a bullpen. If you're 2-0, you can possibly move some guys, to give them an extra day. If you're 0-2, probably already used some, more than you wanted. Cubs will be ready, to get back to even.
October 2, 200817 yr I like the role that Maddux is playing for the Dodgers, and after tonights win I really believe they have a great chance of going to the WS. With Maddux coming in as relief the Dodgers have a great bullpen. Maddux has a ton of playoff experience and as long as he's pitching 1 or 2 innings he can be really effective coming into late innings of a ball game.
October 2, 200817 yr Wrigley was dead tonight... Waiting for the inevitable. Which is odd because we heard all season on here that the "curse" doesn't matter...
October 2, 200817 yr Waiting for the inevitable. Which is odd because we heard all season on here that the "curse" doesn't matter... Most of the people bringing up the curse were non-Cubs fans. We covered this in another thread. They lost. Anyone who thought the Cubs would sweep the series just took up residence on the bandwagon. You can't walk guys in the playoffs. It comes back to bite you and it did Dempster big time tonight.

October 2, 200817 yr When you have a priest in your dugout before the game then the "curse" is in your head. Or maybe just having team prayer? Like most high schools and some colleges?

Anyone who thought the Cubs would sweep the series just took up residence on the bandwagon. You can't walk guys in the playoffs. It comes back to bite you and it did Dempster big time tonight. They were at home, and the home crowd was up for about 30 seconds after the HR for a 2-0 lead. After that, nothing. Waiting for the other shoe to drop as usual. Defend it however you see fit...
October 2, 200817 yr I'm not defending it. They lost. You make it sound like I expected them to win every game. Haven't said that on here anywhere. I don't think anyone has. Find me a single post that said I thought they would win the world series. You can't. It's like UK basketball and Louisville football. When the Cubs were winning, half the people in this thread were nowhere to be found. When they lose, the woodwork opens up. Have at it guys.
October 2, 200817 yr Goat. No lights. Black Cat. Steve Garvey. Leon Durham. Will Clark. Steve Bartman. Alex Gonzalez. Peter Ueberroth. Dick Stockton. 100 years. There. A Cubs fan has brought it up. I should stop doing that.

I was told to save the shenanigans (bugatti 2002) until it counted. It wasn't that LA won. It was the atmosphere in Wrigley that was my point. Dead from the get go. Why???
