Dad chases nude boy from daughter's room with pipe

Featured Replies

Headline should have been "Nude boy with pipe chased by dad with pipe". jmo.

I think I would thoroughly enjoy being a headline writer. I'm not sure how long I would last.

I am late to the discussion, but this is an interesting thread. Several points to make:

1) I am extremely disappointed in the poster(s) that mentioned that they would then take a metal pipe to their OWN child after being part of a similar situation. This is child abuse.

2) The article mentions that the young man was standing naked on the girl's bed. How is the father supposed to know, as that point, that the male is a rapist or was invited? How is he supposed to determine age of the male at that point? How does he know that the young man has not threatened the girl with a weapon that he cannot see? (Perhaps a gun or knife that is hidden by sheets/discarded clothing) These are split second decisions that he must make and I think that he made the right decision in brandishing a weapon, using reasonable force (the boy did not have a broken skull, but required stitches) and defending those in his own home. In the same situation, I would do something similar. If I then had to face charges, so be it. It is better then making the wrong split second decision and reading a situation incorrectly (perhaps missing a weapon that my daughter is being threatened with) and someone losing their life.

3) Some posters have put more blame on the daughter then the young man. Some have even referenced that she was entertaining more then one man (this article mentions NOTHING about any other young men being involved) and being, shall we say, of "loose" morals. This is extremely unfair and perpetuates that it is okay for males to be promiscuous (the same poster didn't bring up the possibility of this young man perhaps visiting a multitude of young women) but females are to be looked down upon for the same thing. What a double standard!

Well put True Blue!

I would probably last about the same amount of time as I would being quality control manager for Newcastle brewing co.:thumb:

Not to say I haven't climbed through a few windows in my day, but I am all for the female parent doing anything he can to prevent this type of thing from happening again. I could only imagine how stomach turning it had to be for the father.

I wouldn't have the right to hit you in the head with a metal pipe.

Someone I found naked in my house would get shot...:ylsuper:

Unless she was hot and of legal age...:D:D

Very good points TB&G, I couldn't agree more. Heck, I might have shot the kid, I don't know. Also your point about girls and boys are right on the mark, it's a terrible double standard.
I dont believe I said that the young man would be the only one punished. I would be the one dealing out the punishment for my daughter while my husband was escorting the young man out of our house.

Which is the best way to handle the situation. :thumb:

It bothers me that so many on here are trying to justify beating another human being with a metal pipe.

So it is tresspassing to invite a boy over to your house? That is news to me. I would say the majority on this board should be labled as a "tresspasser" according to you.

What I am saying is that my children will have to ask my permission before they invite friends over to my house. It is only common courtesy. They will be told of the consequences if they do. I do not condone child abuse, but if someone is in my house without MY knowledge, then I believe it could be considered trespassing.

When my children become of age, and they want the freedom to do what they want, then they have two choices: They can either get a job and help pay their own way, or they can move out. These are the same choices that I was given and I turned out relatively fine.

As for my sons (I have 3 of those as well), they will be told that I will not bail them out for sneaking into a girls room without the parents knowledge. I feel that if they think they are big enough to play those type of games, then they should be able to handle the consequences. I will not use the excuse of "boys will be boys". If I catch my underage sons engaging in acts such as this, then they will be punished.

The more I think about it, I dont' know if I would take a pipe to a 14 year old boy or not. If the boy is over 18, then it's fair game. I would, however, have him escorted out of my house by the police and I would make every attempt to have him charged with whatever I can.

Some people on here apparently think that I am being too harsh on my kids. I am sorry if you see it that way, but I will not let my children have total freedom and turn a blind eye to what they do. I will not abuse them, and as I have said, I will not condone abuse of children by anyone. I will, however, make sure that they know what is expected of them and hold them to it.

If I hear noises in the middle of the night in my house and find a naked man, he'll be lucky if the metal pipe is the only thing he gets. Just my opinion, of course.

:thumb: You got that right!

I am not at all in favor of vigilante justice. That is not the case here.

If you find someone in your house that is NOT supposed to be there and that person is in your child's bedroom naked...do you stop to ask them, "excuse me, but are you a rapist? Can you show me your ID, because if you are a rapist of legal age, I need you to leave."

Like it or not, this young man (and young woman) made a bad choice that resulted in injury. However, had the young man been a rapist brandishing a gun and the father stopped to "ask questions", the young woman might have lost her life, or had to attend her father's funeral.

As far as it being a metal pipe, would you have felt better if he had used a gun or a knife?

I'm no expert on rape but my guess is that its very rare that a rape takes place where both the rapist and the girl being raped are completely naked. To assume that there is a rape going on in this case is a stretch unless the girl seems to be an unwilling participant. That wasn't mentioned in the article.

You have kids?

That's what I was wondering. I have a little girl who is 4 and I can already say with 100% confidence that if I ever hear noises and find a man in her room that isn't supposed to be there, somebody is going to be in for a really bad meeting with dad. :thumb:

Where in the article does it say that the girl was naked? Even if she was, you go ahead and take the chance if it occurs in your home. I won't. Like I said, if that means that I then am brought up on charges, I will fully accept the consequences...with the knowledge that I could have saved my child's life, had it been a rapist.
