As a father of two young daughters, I believe that I would have acted the same way this father did. And I do believe it is tresspassing. Why? Because it is my house, not my daughters'. When they grow up and get their own house, then they can have all of the naked men in their room that they wish, it will be their own choice. But while they are under my roof.... I sure do and I can tell you that my husband would be handling the situation with the young man (and I would hate to consider how he might elect to do that) while I would remain in the home to levee the punishment on my daughter . . . and I can tell you that she would receive more than her fair share not only during the immediate incident but it would have long-term effects on her social life!

My daughter would not be immune to punishment either. However, I am a better father than this guy and my daughter will be raised a little better.

 

I would like to see actual facts that say you are a better father than "this guy." How do you compare? My daughter goes to church? My daughter doesn't drink? Teenage girls have a mind of their own, and if they want to obey you they will, if not they will do the exact opposite you want them to do. This was about the girls decision, not how good or bad of a father this guy was. So any girl that invites boys over to her house is a bad father in your book? Wow, if that is the case, you would be one of the only fathers in America that truly deserve those lame coffee mugs that say "#1 Dad" or "America's Greatest Dad!"

 

Stop trying to defend this guy, should he have kicked the kid out? Yes, that would have been much more appropriate than hitting him in the head.

So it is tresspassing to invite a boy over to your house? That is news to me. I would say the majority on this board should be labled as a "tresspasser" according to you.

I have NO problem and even relish at the chance of being an UNCOOL parent and hovering over the boys with my newly teenaged daughter.

The sad part is that the dad was charged and fined.

 

The kid should have been charged with trespassing, taken home where he could have been hit with another pipe by his own father.

I agree but the sad thing is that there are alot of parents today that would hve done nothing to the boy. That imo is one problem we have today. I certinly am not saying that there are all parents like this but there are much more than enough today that could care less what their child does.

Bet that boy doesnt come around any more!

 

If I was that father, I would ask for a trial by jury. Not a jury in the world would convict him!

 

I also bet if he took up a collection for his defense fund he would have the best lawyer money can buy!

That kid was a guest in the house, albeit unbenknownst to the father. How does that work? If a kid is invited into the room of a minor, by the consenting minor, it can't be illegal b/c he didn't have the requisite intent to commit a crime, can it? However, if the kid is over 18, and he goes into her room, even if voluntarily, then it would be a crime due to the statutory rape laws of the state, b/c he would have had the men rae and the actus reus. For all the lawyers out there, does that sound right?

So your husband was never a teenage boy?

 

I can understand the parents being upset, but he should be upset at his daughter. I would venture to guess that the father in this situation would have been doing the same thing as the teenage boy. I know I would have.

But what would you want done to your teenage son, or what would you have wanted done to you in the same situation? If I'm the father of the boy me and the dad charged are having a meeting and I'm at least bringing a pipe to this meeting.

I have a family member that was. After two divorces, the last from a real deadbeat of a human being, her personal life can be looked at as a mess.

If you're just going to ignore the law I would hope that you would make that very clear before ever getting on a jury. Your rights should actually be revoked if you're admitting that you don't care about the law and you are making your own decisions. I don't have a daughter, but if this was your teenage son who was assaulted for being naked in the same room as his girlfriend for over a year how would you feel?

Yeah but you would do it? Would you want another person doing it? Also, what if you had known that they were dating for over a year and the girl was an invited guest to your house aver 20 times? We don't know all of the facts of this case. How does the father not know the boyfriend of over a year that was in his house for a year? There may be more to the story. What if you were the teenage boy?
