September 13, 200818 yr Yeah but you would do it? Would you want another person doing it? Also, what if you had known that they were dating for over a year and the girl was an invited guest to your house aver 20 times? We don't know all of the facts of this case. How does the father not know the boyfriend of over a year that was in his house for a year? There may be more to the story. What if you were the teenage boy? First, I would be expecting my son to treat her and her family with respect. I would be EXTREMELY angry and disappointed that he did not. It would be months to a year before he ever left my sight to go to a social event again.
September 13, 200818 yr But what would you want done to your teenage son, or what would you have wanted done to you in the same situation? If I'm the father of the boy me and the dad charged are having a meeting and I'm at least bringing a pipe to this meeting. You're probably the same guy that goes to school when your kid gets in trouble to jump on the teacher. The kid knows he is taking a chance of getting caught. He better be ready to face the consequences. And thank The Good Lord I'm not the one that found him.

September 13, 200818 yr So your husband was never a teenage boy? I can understand the parents being upset, but he should be upset at his daughter. I would venture to guess that the father in this situation would have been doing the same thing as the teenage boy. I know I would have. He might have but . . . it's a whole different story when it's your daughter!!:madman:
September 13, 200818 yr As a father of two young daughters, I believe that I would have acted the same way this father did. And I do believe it is tresspassing. Why? Because it is my house, not my daughters'. When they grow up and get their own house, then they can have all of the naked men in their room that they wish, it will be their own choice. But while they are under my roof.... (never mind, I am starting to sound like my own dad now). I'm no lawyer but I'd bet you're 100% wrong on it being trespassing. No way in heck you can charge a kid for "being" in your house when he was invited in.

September 13, 200818 yr He might have but . . . it's a whole different story when it's your daughter!!:madman: You can still be objective about this situation, and anyone who is blaming this solely on the boy is not being objective, IMO.

It would be months to a year before he ever left my sight to go to a social event again. Those are all reasonable expectations and a reasonable punishment; however, hitting a kid in the head with a lead pipe is a battery. There's no doubt about it.
September 13, 200818 yr BTW, if the boy would have been my son, I would have probably beaten him with a lead pipe too when he got home. His social life would cease to exist as he knows it. And then you would probably lose your son to child protective services shortly after you beat him with a lead pipe. And then YOUR social life would cease to exist as you know it.
September 13, 200818 yr For all of you "parents" who are defending the dad's actions: Do you like it when other parents discipline your child? How about when they discipline your child with physical force? How about when they brutally beat your child and you have to take them to the hospital to get tests done regarding the health of your child's brain and other internal organs?
September 13, 200818 yr I sure do and I can tell you that my husband would be handling the situation with the young man (and I would hate to consider how he might elect to do that) while I would remain in the home to levee the punishment on my daughter . . . and I can tell you that she would receive more than her fair share not only during the immediate incident but it would have long-term effects on her social life! I certainly agree eccher, I failed to mention earlier about punishment/dicipline on the daughter. There would definately be that from me as well.....involving a lot ( a whole lot) of manual labor during every spare moment away from her school work/homework while at home, aside from ALL of the housework if I had a riding mower she had better get used to the push variety bc that is what she would use no matter the size of the yard. I would hope that she liked our house and the enviroment bc that's where she would be staying for quite a long time (house arrest) along with it wouldn't matter if she liked her cell phone or not bc it woud be destroyed. These I could think of right off hand as well as with anything else I could come up with along the way.

I dont believe I said that the young man would be the only one punished. I would be the one dealing out the punishment for my daughter while my husband was escorting the young man out of our house.
