It looks like this thread is much like the spanking thread--pretty much divided between parents and non-parents. Once again I will say, you have no idea how nuts you will become until you are a parent. Parents have far different reactions and beliefs than non-parents as a whole. I'm not for beating anyone savagely, but if I find a naked intruder in one of my children's rooms, then I will use whatever means necessary to get that person out of my home. If I'm carrying a pipe, then that is what I would use. Moral of the story, don't sneak into people's houses (even if you are invited) and take off your clothes!

That was the point. You cannot LEGALLY shoot someone who your child has invited in. At that point, its not trespassing.

Here is my question for you--what are you arguing for? Do you think the kid had a right to be in the bedroom? Do you think the dad was wrong for allegedly protecting his daughter from the unknown? Do you think the dad should have known that the kid was harmless at first glance? What do you think you would have done in the dad's shoes?

IMO, the girl cant invite the boy in because of her age.

But since the dad hit the boy I would have to think that the girl got punished aswell.

Thank God I have 2 boys and if they get hit in the head for something like this then its there own fault and they would have to face the consequences.

This reminds me of the movie " The Ladies Man" but it was a grown man running out naked not a boy.

I am saying that the father committed a battery against the young man.

 

I am not saying that the father was wrong in trying to protect his daughter. Anyone (even if you don't have a child of your own) would respect the father for trying to protect his daughter; however, he went about it in the wrong way.

 

Once again, no, I do not have any children of my own. But that does not change the law of the land.

I guess that is where we disagree. According to the story, he saw a nude male standing on his daughter's bed. He swung a pipe, hit the person in the head and chased them out the front door. How is that battery? If he continued to hit him after the person fell in the yard, then yes. But according to the story he only hit him one time, right? How is that any different from shooting an intruder that you encounter in your home?

If the girl was a minor, she has no rights to invite anyone in the house.
