No, it's bad coaching, and continuing to support bad coaching that kills teams. Heck, why didn't Ashland fans try and remain positive when Mike Holtzaphel and David Arthur were coaching? Like I said I'm not an Ashland fan. I'm just calling it like I see it. If I were an Ashland fan, and an Ashland grad I would be very concerned about the state of the Ashland Tomcat program. I can understand why a Raceland fan, or any other local school would want to see Hart remain as coach though. Ashland has too much tradition, and pride to continue to see their football program play below mediocrity.

Congrats to Raceland on the win. They sure seem to have Ashland's number. The Ashland kids played hard, and almost made a great comeback to win the game. I was very impressed with Raceland running back duo of Denton and Carver. Those two young men run very hard. Hopefully Ashland can bounce back next week, and I hope the Albers kid is alright, and able to play. He ran the ball well when he was in there. I do agree with those who said that Bonner needs more touches.

I don't know how many yards Carter ended up with but he didn't touch the ball in the first quarter. Why was he on the sideline so long? I agree about Bonner. The question is "how do you get him the ball"

Good 1A teams do not beat good 5A teams once in a blue moon. To win three in a row means Raceland is a great 1A team or Ashland is a very poor 5A team. 1A and 5A are apples and oranges. They should not even be on the same field much less in a competitive game..

Why? Because they're 1A? They might be able to beat Montgomery Co. I know the played decent in their scrimmage with Johnson Central. The starters are as good as most 11 starters in this area. The problem in a 1A vs. 5A matchup is your numbers & your depth. Raceland was getting worn down last night, which enabled Ashland to make their comeback, not to mention four Raceland fumbles. If the Rams don't fumble in key situations then Ashland doesn't score...period.

 

Makes a big difference when you can sub in quality players without much of a dropoff in talent, which in turn will wear down a smaller team who has most of their talented guys going both ways.

They can't beat LCA. Not sure they can beat Fairview.

Raceland rarely plays 1A schools, except for district play. That is no accident. Raceland plays larger school all the time, to make them better. This year Raceland plays Russell, East Carter, West Carter (all 3A schools), Greenup Co. (4A school), and Ashland (5A school). Now all of these schools are not power house larger schools, but they do provide better competition then most 1A schools. To be the best you can't just sit back and play inferior competition and say we did all we could. You have to play the best competition available.

 

I don't think Raceland will beat Trinity anytime soon, but Raceland can play with most larger schools. They might not beat all of them, but they can keep it respectable.

 

The non-district schedule is to get you ready for the district games and play off games. That is it. They matter for nothing else. Raceland will continue to play the larger schools in North-Eastern Kentucky and will benefit for it.

Sorry I missed this one.... sounded like a doozy. Good job to both teams. Raceland will rolling into Raider country in 2 weeks and i'll get to see them then. Should see a lot of orange in the end zone that night. Maybe Baldwin can pull something from his hat. :jump:
