Yes. Ashland will have another long season. The Ashland program has fallen about as low as it can get. What I'm about to say is in now way negative about Raceland. They have a very, very good program, but Ashland, should never lose to a school the size of Raceland. I never thought I would see the day that the mighty Ashland Tomcat football program would fall to this level. Leon Hart might have been a fine college football coach, but IMO he is not a very good high school football coach. He coaches as if he is coaching college football. Twice tonight, he decided to forgo going for it on

4th and short, and punt from Raceland's 35 yard line. That is just idiotic. I know that the Bonner boy is a very good athlete, but Hart simply refuses to utilize him like he should. That young man should be getting the ball in his hands a lot more. Ashland used to be known for using it's tight end, and throwing that quick little pop pass. Vic Marsh had great success with it. I don't think Coach Hart knows what it is. Maybe he should go back, and look at some of the films from when Coach Marsh coached. I also don't think I've seen such a small Ashland team. Did they quit feeding the boys in Ashland? Ashland always used to have some big boys up front. I thought I was watching a freshman team out there tonight. Ashland just isn't very big up front. I can't see Ashland winning too many games this year. I predict another 2-8 season at best, and another year not making the playoffs. That might end up being the best thing for the Ashland program though, because I think Coach Hart has pretty much done about as much damage as should be allowed.

I can understand your frustration but jmo this post will do absolutley nothing to help the Ashland kids. Yes, they do read these threads (all kids on all teams do imo) whether or not the coach tells them not to. Clearly it is your right to post what you want and I respect that :thumb:. I have found though that negativity breeds negativity, the Tomcats have full season in front of them and I hope that the kids are not throwing in the towel after one opening game loss as you are

. As for your comment on Coach Marsh, if I remember right there were fans slamming him at first as well. I have talked to Coach Marsh several times an he was a great football coach and a class act. He also was pegged "an idiot" more than once in more than one year at Ashland. That is the life of a coach.

Do and say what you want, that is your choice. I just think that some positive talk around these kids will help much more than negative and yes, the kids hear this stuff. Ashland imo will be fine, they play a very good fotball team n Pikeville next week.

Good luck to you and the Tomcats the rest of the way. Tomcat players, for what it's worth coming from a Raceland fan( probably not much to you) you are not a bad football team at all, you played hard tonight and fought back, didn't quit.. Stay positive and good things will happen.:thumb:

A very good high school football game.

 

Raceland: Played a great first half of football, they came out focused and played very hard. Minus the two fumbles. Ball security it paramount. Two very good running backs had a fumble a piece, one in side the ten yard line. When you play a quality program like Ashland, you can not squander those opportunities. When the playoffs come you can't miss those opportunities.

 

Raceland offensive line had a great game, until they got tired. This is the biggest line I have ever seen at Raceland, and I can say with certainty that is the biggest line Raceland has ever had. Good job for the men in the trenches where big games are won or lost.

 

Raceland showed they can be a power team. They can run it at you, from their "passing offense", or they can throw it over the top. They are going to be a very well balanced team, and hard to prepare for.

 

Tyler Boyles, please no more underhand passes down field, you took five years off of my life. Please, don't do that again.

 

Bret Denton is a beast, and good luck to anyone who faces him face to face, and stay low for your sake.

 

John-Scott Carver had a great game and played very hard. With him and Denton together, he is another one that is hard to prepare for.

 

Robbie Logan is big and a force to be reckoned with. He had a good game from his OL/DL positions. If he stays focused, the sky is the limit, and he will be playing on Saturdays.

 

I can't name everyone, but this was a good team effort. Raceland just has to play both halves, I know this was a tiring game, but he have to play both halves and not let teams get back in the game. We have to deliver the knock out blow.

 

Ashland: I said Ashland is going to be better then most teams think, and they are. They have the power game, and can use it. They will were some teams down and will win games this year. I think Pikeville will have their hands fun next week, and I may go watch that game.

 

Carter can deliver on the big play, and when he get loose, he will hurt opponents.

 

Bonner can be more utilized, and could then be a force. I would like to see him have about 5-10 touches a game, if that happens, defenses will have to respect that and not shift down for the power game.

 

Good luck to Ashland in the remainder of the season, I expect some good things from this team.

Didn't hear anything about the game other than the score but to get down on yourself for letting Raceland beat you is silly in my book. A..AA...AAA...etc Doesnt matter in Racelands eyes and thats how it should be. Throw all the classes out the window and just play good hard football. Raceland has a good team and they are gonna let you know it no matter what class you are in. Congrats to Raceland and for the Tomcats...hold your head up and go hard next friday.

Two years ago, the Tomcats lost to Raceland in their opening game. They won almost all the rest of their games that season (I think 3 loses maybe). The loss to Raceland seem to get them fired up and they went on to have a very good season. That may very well be the case again this year. We have a good senior class and several talented sophomores and juniors. This senior class is close and have played football together many years. Many of them are good friends, both on and off the football field. I think they will get it together and be OK. TOMCATS-- WE BELIEVE!!!!!

Ashland should be lucky to even make it to OT. We need to run more then 4 plays to have a sucessful year.

Raceland fans......you don't know how AWESOME you were, too. Do you know what it looked like from the playing field to see all that ORANGE in the stands?? I haven't been in pads for 22 years, but I was ready to after seeing all your support. Let's keep RAM NATION rolling in the stands all year, no matter the opponent. One way to keep a team focused is to have support like was seen friday night.

How good did Russell look? From what I was told, they certainly didn't look like they lost many starters from how good they played last night. What's your assessment of Greenup Co.? Overrated, or just overwhelmed by the Devils?

I just arrived back from the stadium from helping with the clean up and the most positive thing that I seen from an Ashland fan is that Raceland had way more pop cans on their side of the stands than Ashland did. This means that overall the Ashland fans probably will live longer.

That sea or orange did look awesome last night from the field. I think we have the most loyal fans anywhere. They certainly follow us anywhere! I swear I think we had more fans there than Ashland did. Their support was awesome.
