Glad you think Clinton was a failure as a President.

Finacially speaking, those were the greatest years of my life. But I've been embarrassed by our presidents for most of my life. It would be nice to have someone I could be proud of again.

Statistically speaking, there is a very good chance McCain will die in office, especially with his age and health history. If I vote for McCain, and I don't know yet, I will essentially be voting her into the Presidency. I'm not a fan of governors running for our highest office. It hasn't been a successful formula lately.

Interesting trivia: In our nation's history, 15 senators have gone on to serve as president; however, only 2 senators have moved directly from the senate to the White House......Kennedy and Harding

I think you've misunderstood the issue. The allegation is that they are trying to get an EX brother in law fired from the state police force. So far no one has shown proof that they were behind this but some of their staff have made calls about the guy. The Palins have made some serious charges against the guy.

So what's the real story on this issue? I assume it will come out in the next few days, but I hear different things already.

It looks suspicious though when the governor takes this approach on a case involving the guy who is divorcing her sister and trying to get custody of her children.

The last 6 has been the greatest financially speaking of my life.

And I don't believe we will ever have someone across the board for your last sentence.

I have been extremely proud with what Bush has done with his SC appointments and his ban on partial birth abortions.

I have been extremely disappointed with what Bush has done to not control spending and pork barrel spending, in particular.

Which is why I haven't had an issue with senators - YET! I wasn't even born when these guys held office. :D

 :lol:It was OK that he disgraced the Office of President? Lied under oath? Lied to you, me and every American? Ahh, good times.

From what I read today.

He tasered Palin's 11-year old nephew and his step son. Threatened to kill Palin's dad. And broke some game laws.

Someone on her staff called to ask about the commissioner firing him.

She ended up firing the commissioner because of disagreements over the budget and him not being a team player (I believe he was an appointment by the previous governor that she had beat in the election.)

He claimed it was because he would not fire the state trooper.

One report I read said that she overturned a lot of the appointments made in the last hour of the previous governor's term.

Seemed like she came in and cleaned house and the good ole boys didn't like it.

Actually I never said I liked anything about him. I think you misread my post. I just said I made more money those years. He and Bush are both corrupt, just in different ways. You're either morally bankrupt or you're not. I don't think we should rank whose level of corruption was worse.

Thanks lbbc. I hadn't heard that version, so now I'm even more confused. I guess it will all come out soon. I figured it can't be that bad or McCain wouldn't have touched her with a 10 foot pole.

EVEN Keith Olberman said this is a non-issue with McCain's critics when looking at her.

I heard Dick Morris describe Palin's rise to power earlier this evening. If his description was factually accurate, Palin's life story has the makings of a great movie.

She blew the whistle on political corruption within her own party and resigned from the ethics board on which she served in protest. The governor and his supporters went after Palin and she reacted by running against the incumbent Republican governor, beat him in the primary, and then beat the Democratic candidate.

I do not think that the Obama ticket will want to try to paint Palin as corrupt, given the recent indictments of some close Biden relatives and all of the skeletons in Barack Obama's closet.

Well, I'm gonna take a wait and see approach. A lot of people here hate her and a lot of folks love her, even though they admit they never heard of her until today. I don't think I can decide that quick. I need a little more info. I don't always vote for every office, sometimes I leave a particular office blank. A non vote is a vote. I never choose one person because I dislike the other, that's just insane.

I posted here a few months ago about Palin because her liason was interviewed by Francene. Her liason spoke about Palin, and Palin WAS NOT on the show.

She talked about how Palin admitted she felt guilty her state made so much money from oil, and was offering a rebate to Alaskans to compensate. I liked that.

She also spoke of wanting to drill Anwar, but said they would sell the oil to Japan and not use it in the US. She said their view was that Japan will pay much more, and any oil hitting the market is good, regardless whether we use it in the states or not, which is true. Conservative folks (judging by comments on that post) weren't thrilled with that take on Japan, but i guess it's all good now.

She said gas was nearly $10 a gallon in most of Alaska outside the big cities, and this was when we were around $3-$3.50 I'm guessing. I was shocked that it cost that much right where they pull it out of the ground. That means nothing here, I just thought it was interesting.

I love this pick.

I disagree...in your 2000 and 2004 examples, it doesn't say a lot for the people that voted for the "dummy". ;)

Says even less for those that voted for the guys beaten by the "dummy" ;)
