Obama's campaign has ran on the theme of Change in Washington and yet he choose a senator that has been there 35 years?!?!?

 

His theme of change fits with Palin's record. She is a reformer who stood up against a corrupt Republican (HER PARTY) machine in Alaska, won against it and reformed it.

 

How can O say the Republican ticket is not about change with McCain being the Maverick, once again, with the VP selection and Palin having a history of reform in her own party.

I think there are other candidates McCain could have picked that had a modicum of "change factor" going for them, without going all-in on a candidate with less experience than he challenges Obama on.

People who are truly interested in qualifications would not be voting for Obama over McCain regardless of who McCain had put on his ticket because they would be unimpressed by Obama's own meager qualifications.

True...and those that spend lengthy amounts of times bemoaning Obama's own inexperience must truthfully question McCain's choice of Palin.

One definitely advantageous potential strategy that McCain could have had in mind, is that in the VP debate, if Biden is true to form, Palin may come out looking better overall. Biden is pretty much doomed if the O/B campaign can't figure out how he can counter an outspoken female, who's not going to be pushed around, without looking like a real chauvenist. This could be very damaging to the O/B ticket, as it could potentially push some on-the-fence female voters to the M/P ticket because they feel he wasn't respectful enough, or condescending.

^Biden is condescending to almost everybody, so Palin will force him out of his comfort zone. I agree that attacking Palin will be a tricky proposition for Biden - not just in the debate but on the campaign trail.

True. The selection of Palin completely undercuts McCain's main argument against Obama--that he isn't qualified to be Commander in Chief.

 

McCain's words: Experience and qualifications matter. McCain's actions: Experience and qualifications don't matter (Palin pick). Which is it, McCain?

 

The choice also significantly undermines McCain's foreign policy experience. He is certainly qualified in this area, but if elected he would also be the oldest President in history. What happens if Ms. Palin is called upon to take over mid-term? Then you have someone with absolutely zero foreign policy experience of any kind running the country's international affairs.

 

McCain just took one of his most potent arguments and flushed it right down the toilet! :eek:

 

Now, Obama's camp can focus on hitting the Republicans about the economy and the stagnant middle class standard of living over the past seven years.

I am on record saying Palin would be an excellent choice months ago, at a time when her name appeared on almost none of the lists of likely nominees. Palin is a great choice and her selection has totally thrown Obama's campaign into panic mode. Already, his campaign issued a statement ridiculing her selection and then Obama had to do another one of his "do-over" statements a few hours later. Obama and his staff are being unmasked as amateurs one step at a time each and every day.
