August 30, 200818 yr Bad pick in my opinion.. seems like McCain needs to take all the attention off Obama and swing some back his way. Biden will tear her apart in a debate... but she is a good looking older lady, I don't question McCain's manhood. What do you base that upon? How much about Palin's debating skills do you know? The pressure on the debate will ALL BE ON BIDEN. She scores points against him and he will be seen as losing the VP debate. Similar to the way Cheney won the VP debates when it was assumed that Lieberman would tear him up in them. If she holds her own, it will come out as a win for her. If she wins it, well Biden is done then. And there will be a lot of time and practicing and preparing her over the next month or so.
August 30, 200818 yr Good Point! The picture made me think that Bill is probably more excited about McCain's pick of VP than he would have been if O would have chosen Hillary for VP.
August 30, 200818 yr Ok, she's female and she's young. What else? Her resume is about the only one that can make Obama's look deep. You just made a lot of 40 year old women very, very happy.

Biden will tear her apart in a debate... but she is a good looking older lady, I don't question McCain's manhood. A tough, successful, career oriented woman who has raised 5 children, one of whom has Down's Syndrome. I have a feeling she'll be just fine in those debates.

Overall, Hillary was the best debater of the bunch, IMO. I question whether Biden will win a debate with Palin, let alone dominate it. She single-handedly brought down corrupt a Republican Governor - the very experienced Frank Murkowski - and then upset the Democratic candidate in the general election. To take on the dominant party in her state as a reformer and come out on top, I am guessing that Sara Palin will not be the push over in a debate that you are expecting.
August 30, 200818 yr I am still confused why Obama's lack of experience is being canceled by Palin's? Last time I checked Palin was on the undercard and Obama was the main event. Statistically speaking, there is a very good chance McCain will die in office, especially with his age and health history. If I vote for McCain, and I don't know yet, I will essentially be voting her into the Presidency. I'm not a fan of governors running for our highest office. It hasn't been a successful formula lately.
August 30, 200818 yr Here is a thought. All of the Democrats are falling all over themselves in saying that McCain's lack of experience argument on O is ridiculous now. How did that argument on O fair for Hillary in the Democrat primary??? Was she successful with that strategy against him? Did it work for her? O wait, no it didn't. She lost to him with that strategy. She lost a race she had no business losing on that argument. Maybe McCain came to the realization that he would lose with that strategy too and now is appealing to the moms of the country. The social conservatives of this country. On CNN, they should have a stat that married women tend to align more with Republicans than Dems. With Hillary out of the running, Palin has them written all over it. IF Palin handles it correctly. And the McCain staff handles her correctly.

August 30, 200818 yr As my moniker would suggest, Palin played the state championship game with a stress fracture in her ankle. As the point guard on that championship team, she hit some crucial free throws to help her team.
August 30, 200818 yr I'm lost on the history of this pick. Have we not already had a female as a vice presidential candidate? I don't think Obama hand picked Pelosi and yes she does scare me. Pelosi that is. Not a Republican woman.
August 30, 200818 yr To show that the double standard still exists, a female conservative called into Beck's show today and said that while she liked her conservative policies she thought that she would be "abandoning" her children , especially her youngest, if she became the VP. I'm guessing that this will come up in some people's minds. On CNN, they questioned a female reporter about this. She had two statements that brought this line of discussion to a quick end. If Palin was male, would he have asked the same question. Do they wonder if running for President has hurt Obama's ability to be a father to his two daughters. She shut them up pretty quick.
August 30, 200818 yr Doesn't he have a 96 year old mother who's still alive?...and she looks much younger and is very articulate for her age.
