August 13, 200818 yr A little question about the trade. IF one of the PTBN is indeed Micah Owings, could the Reds request that he take the rest of the year off (with his arm injury), considering he got picked up on waivers and will not be able to join the club until the end of the season. This is probably far-fetched but I was just wondering. Thanks
August 13, 200818 yr The quote from Arroyo mentioning that Dunn was looking for 100 million dollar plus contract is enough to know that this was a great trade. They traded two more months of Dunn for 3 players and 2 million dollars. Arroyo even said that the club wasn't gonna bring him back.

August 13, 200818 yr Is Micah Owings a pitcher to get excited about? I think he would hit higher in the lineup than pitch in the rotation
August 13, 200818 yr Is Micah Owings a pitcher to get excited about?I believe so. He has a lot of potential but his command of pitches, has become a problem. Strong, good size at 6'-5" and perhaps the change of scenery, will benefit him. He's also a good hitting pitcher, who can handle a bat when needed.
August 13, 200818 yr Healthy, I think so. He's definitely one of the better hitting pitchers in the league...
August 13, 200818 yr Is Micah Owings a pitcher to get excited about? Great minor league stats, went 8-8 in '07 for the Dbacks, but his last two appearances in '08 he was rocked in relief. He did win the silver slugger award last season.
August 13, 200818 yr CTR backing me up... From what I'm hearing, the other player to be named is switch-hitting catcher Wilkin Castillo. Castillo has had a down year offensively, but something that's interesting is here's a catcher who has played every other position (besides pitching) except for first base and center.

What are you talking about? CTR mentioned it way before you did.:lol: Per CTR... When judging the Adam Dunn trade, don't forget the two players to be named. The one player announced was Dallas Buck and the other two players have to be minor leaguers. However, those two players to be named are on the Diamondbacks' 40-man roster, a source tells The Lot D. The Reds wouldn't have done the deal without getting a Major League-ready pitcher. That means it's either Micah Owings, Max Scherzer or Jailen Peguero. If it's Owings or Scherzer, does that change your opinion of the deal? Expect the other to be a position player, which would be catcher Wilkin Castillo or one of two first basemen, Javier Brito or Josh Whitesell.
August 13, 200818 yr Castillo looks like a super-utility player, and we all know those guys can be useful, although it appears he isn't going to be an impact player. It's hard to get way too excited about a guy that's not hitting much in the PCL. I would take a chance on Owings ... as for Buck, it's way too early to tell.

August 13, 200818 yr It was a three person option then. I heard last night it was Castillo, and he had the same up this morning. Keep up... Oh, I'm way ahead of the game. If you, and the rest of the media only knew the real deal that was going to go down at the end of the year. You would be as excited as I am. :sssh:
