August 13, 200818 yr Oh, I'm way ahead of the game. If you, and the rest of the media only knew the real deal that was going to go down at the end of the year. You would be as excited as I am. :sssh: That's just not nice... :irked:
August 13, 200818 yr Mmm - hitting .254 in AAA this year, which is his highest AAA average. Not much power, doesn't take many walks. I'm not really seeing the attraction, unless he is really good defensively.

I do think Hanigan will be what they need. His release, looked good last night and we would agree, Catching is critical to being a competitive team. Managing the game, pitch selection, confidence from pitchers, throwing out runners. If he or Castillo can hit some, will be an improvement.
August 13, 200818 yr Author I'm sworn to secrecy. We spill our guts all the time.....not nice........:fight::laugh:
August 13, 200818 yr Isn't he 28 and don't you compare Bailey to Chuck Norris? Yes, he his 28, but hit .324 in AAA this season. With all the speed in the lineup it would be nice to have a catcher put the ball in play like he does.

August 13, 200818 yr How far away is Messarocco(sp?)?In looking at his stats, they'll probably move Devin Mesoraco alongat a little quicker rate, given his draft status. I would guess, 2 years or more, before getting a chance in Spring Training to compete and adjust to the MLB game.

Nothing he's done in the minors projects him as anything more than a run-of-the-mill catcher on the major league level. The guy is 28 and he's just now getting a chance. If he were anything special, Hanigan would have been up long before now.

August 14, 200818 yr Interesting ... Baseball America has Hanigan's current stats (.324) while The Baseball Cube said he hit .303, although his stats were a week or so out of date. You would think the Cube guys would keep their site updated ... It certainly doesn't change my assessment of him.
